It appears I waited too long and now I can't find the official UK release of Roadsinger, the Lt. Edition version with the book cover and DVD. It hasn't been released in the states and I don't know if it ever will, and all I can find now is the poorer quality Malaysian or Asian version and the printing and reproduction isn't the best.
Thought I'd ask you majicatters if you know where I can get the UK release.... is there one in one of your local stores or a specific website or maybe you have an extra one you'd like to sell?
Hard to believe a little over a month after it's released I can't find this. Someone warned me early on to pre-order but I didn't. All the deluxe versions for sale on ebay are Asian imports.
You can send me a private message instead of clogging up the message board. Thanks! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ha ha, love your name... Sir Lorry Load, that's pretty funny. Thanks so much for your reply. Well, I checked it out on Barnes & Noble and it might be the Asian import because the UPC code listed is exactly like the one I have, which is from Malaysia.
Here's a question for those who have the official UK release... what's the UPC code and does it say somewhere on the back, maybe at the bottom in tiny letters Made in UK or something like that?
I am trying to get some identifying marks from the UK version so I know what to look for. PS... on Best Buys website they have a version that costs over $24 but no other information except it's available 6/27 or some date later in the month. Maybe a US deluxe version is coming but I think that's highly unlikely because they would have released it right away.... unless record companies are operating differently than they used to.
Honestly, I don't know why this is so difficult to figure out. How many UK deluxe versions did they produce anyway??? Apparently not enough!

Hi Mary, I had to log in and pass on these links. They're all trustworthy and do deliver - I've used all 3 with good results. Red Eye Records here in Australia have a BIG selection for you to become immersed in. Making a decision as to which one you select could prove difficult, but I think you wont have any problems at all should you go thru this company. They're also VERY quick off the mark and readily ship to the U.S. So, check this direct link here: www.redeye.com.au/answer.asp?reion=USA&atype=both&artist=roadsinger&code=&search=searchThis 2nd link was one I found when many of us on the board were trying to find Roadsinger to pre-order. I ended up being the only one to buy from them. Some Majicatters were wary of them because they hadn't heard of them before. If I recall correctly, I think it was Nancy who tried to place an order, but her card wouldn't go thru at the online 'checkout' stage. Well, I had no problems, besides, they accept paypal, so I couldn't see too much of a problem if any. The only drawback was that I waited a few weeks longer than everyone else for my copies to arrive - I ordered 2 deluxe versions. The best thing for me was the price. Not only was it the cheapest, but they offer free delivery!! So's you know, I've checked tonight and they have the deluxe in stock (as do Red Eye Records - the above link). So, this group is CD Wow and the direct link for the deluxe version is here: www.cdwow.com.au/CD/YUSUF-ISLAM-CAT-STEVENS-Roadsinger-CD-DVD-Deluxe/product/view/7219245Lastly, I also ordered the deluxe version from JB Hi-Fi (for my sister): www.jbhifionline.com.au/Product/427101/ROADSINGER-(TO-WARM-YOU-THROUGH-THE-NIGHT)---(COLLECTORS-EDITION)This lot don't have it currently in stock, but it's available to order and is currently on special until october. However, CD Wow's prices are still cheaper. So, I'm just throwing this in as a back-up, but probably unlikely that you'll need to use these folk! Just to add, when I received my copies from CD Wow, I was at first a little concerned about the quality, because the nicely padded packaging (truly), had been shipped from Hong Kong. However, when I opened it, there was no problem whatsoever. The actual album was (is) from the EU (and incidentally, it is exactly the same as the version I received from JB Hi Fi). The print, booklet, CD & DVD are all perfect. Lastly. I've started uploading some of the old Cat Stevens performances I mentioned to you earlier. So far it's only the Tampa, Florida concert of 1972 and I still have 6 songs to go, but you can certainly download what's there so far - sadly the first song shows the age of the original tape this would have come from. Fortunately, it's not too bad by the 2nd song in - and it's one of my favourites of Cat's (Can't keep it in) Here's the link - there are 12 songs so far - I'll have the remaining 6 up as soon as I'm able. I'll try and let you and everyone know, but may be off again for a couple of days. Hard to tell. Tampa Fl: www.box.net/shared/x1jqv5genxAlso, if anyone still missed out on the Chris Isaac show with Yusuf, my link is still up here: www.megaupload.com/?d=57TAEH3EGood luck now Cheers, from Jon.

the plot thickens...this just gets more confusing and I seriously need a magnifying glass....
on the back of the cover at the bottom in teenie tiny type, probably 4pt, there's 4 lines of information. A lot of it I can't read because it's so small. The last line says something like (probably an address).... Ground Floor Wisma Academy, 4A Jalan 19/1, 46300 Petaling Java, Sclanger David Ebean Malaysia BIEN/SABAM - LC0407
The printed UPC code is: 6 02527 05149 9 and from what I'm hearing it's the same on the UK version. That's weird.
The most telling thing is the big round colorful applied sticker on the back cover that looks like an import sticker of some kind with a watermark of 2 tigers. Says Universal Music with a bunch of numbers and words I can't pronounce. I assume it's the Malaysian language.
So, perhaps the numbering for all product is the same but the manufacturing isn't?
This used to be so simple.... you could instantly tell the difference between a UK/Euro manufactured product and a lesser quality Asian import because the numbering was completely different and there was distinctly different marks. Now they don't tell you much.
I just feel the printing is kind of poor, but since I haven't seen the UK version.... I'm only guessing!
Oh... and on the front there's a silver hologram sticker that says TULEN KPDN & HEP ORIGINAL with 9876126R numbers. I bet this is an anti-theft sticker.

FYI - CDNow, Play.com, Barnes & Nobles, amazon.uk and amazon.us.... all have only the Malaysian version in stock. Looks like I found a UK release from a fellow majicatter, so thanks for all your input!
Next thing.... the UK vinyl album in the gatefold sleeve! Preorders are being taken at many sites. I wonder if the Wanted poster will be inside that? Yusuf was holding it up in one of the UK concert clips recently and it was obviously folded up. Makes sense it would be included with the vinyl!
If anyone gets the vinyl album, please let us know what it comes with. I read somewhere there'll be a 12 page booklet included.

Hi mckenzy, I'm very glad to hear that you have a definite lead on acquiring the UK Deluxe CD/DVD set. I still have to believe that this combo set will be released in the United States in the near future... 'cause I'm depending on it! Maybe Universal's marketing sceme for the U.S. was that in not having the initial choice of buying either the standard, single CD or the CD/DVD deluxe set (which, if given such a choice, most of us would choose to purchase over the standard edition*), we would all, naturally, buy the standard CD... only to be presented at a later date with the irresistable opportunity to buy the deluxe combo. Sincerely, Bud *Although I am quite sure that many, if not most, of us would purchase both!

Yes, Sir Lorry (Bud for short) you make a very good point.... and knowing how marketing geniuses think... they might release the US deluxe version to coincide with a new tour of the US!! Now, that would be a kicker... Yusuf, are you listening???

richina,
Is the booklet in the album the exact same as the booklet in the CD? is the LP just a bigger version of the CD, or are there differences? That is what I'm wondering!!!
TIA...

Hi Tia, The booklet in the album has the written lyrics to ALL the songs, which is different from the CD book. The album booklet also contains more photos, which are fabulous. I think it was well worth it!! (even my husband was impressed with how well done it was.) Hope this helps! Richina

I wonder if it is a larger version of what came with the deluxe CD/DVD? That also came with all lyrics and lots of pictures.

Hey Richina!!!! oh goodie the vinyl has arrived!! Now I have to find it at a reasonable price. Some prices I've seen are a bit outrageous, but EIL's price sounds good.
Where the heck is that WANTED POSTER!!! Come on, Yusuf... what gives with this anyway??

Hi Folks. I received the vinyl edition yesterday and I completely agree with richina's description of it: it truly is one gorgeous production! I ordered mine over the 'net from 'Barnes&Noble' (U.S.) and it arrived in only four days. The price was $24.99 (U.S.) plus shipping & handling (and, in my case, 7% New Jersey state sales tax). Here is the link to the vinyl LP via B&N: music.barnesandnoble.com/Roadsinger/Yusuf-Cat-Stevens/e/602527042657/?itm=1It's really well worthwhile to have in your collection! -Bud
