Thanks Christine. Just leave it to NPR. It looks like Yusuf will be the grand finale for the show that morning. (I love how he's always saved for last in articles and news pieces -- it sure says something about him, doesn't it!) I hope I'll be able to catch this interview (or access it later online)... it being the holidays, and travel time and all... I wonder if Yusuf will actually be in the studio in L.A. or if it'll be a satellite show? I get the sense he's still got problems traveling to the U.S.

He has his visa back, so there had better not be any problems. I sure hope I can get that station.
Peace,Vivian

It looks like if you go to the KCRW link Christine provided above, you can listen to it on the internet live that day. If your schedule doesn't allow that, it looks like they archive and/or podcast all shows. (Download the iTunes program if you want to podcast it, or just go to the archives page.)

Did you catch the "performance" description on the info page for Yusuf on KCRW? I am definately looking forward to this interview. I just checked out one of the previous shows video's. It was quite interesting. Something nice to look forward to once again. It's nice that they have it archived for some of us who wil be doing other things during that time slot..

An updated article on the KCRW webcast. dmwmedia.com article"We've been working on making this happen for almost two years since Yusuf released his 'Indian Ocean' single for victims of the 2004 Tsunami and began recording 'An Other Cup,'" said Harcourt. "I'm honored that Yusuf said yes to a performance on KCRW."

Neat!
But two things. First... this live performance was actually pre-recorded?
Secondly, so he was in New York on Nov. 19???

There has been a change made to the article: "*Correction: KCRW contacted DMW? to inform us that their original press release contained incorrect information on the Yusuf webcast. The concert will be recorded live on December (not November) 19th. KCRW.com will webcast (audio only) the performance on Dec. 21 at 11:15 a.m. It will be archived for later listening in the KCRW.com archives" -Joanne

So the SIRIUS performance is the same thing as the KCRW performance, essentially.
Right?

So the SIRIUS performance is the same thing as the KCRW performance, essentially. Right? I don't know.. But I read this on MTV : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The first U.S. performance by Yusuf — a.k.a. Yusuf Islam, a.k.a. Cat Stevens — will be broadcast Thursday. Recorded in New York on November 19 to an invite-only crowd, the intimate gig will air at 11:15 a.m. PT on Santa Monica, California's NPR affiliate, KCRW. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Which makes me wonder if the concert KCRW is suppose to air, is actually the complimentary concert Yusuf performed at the United Nation today? Wouldn't it be great if Joanne uploaded this concert like she did the interview yesterday. That worked out so great. I now have it on CD and played it again on the way to work. I hope I can do the same with this. I realize it will probably be a much larger file, but being the Cat fanatic you are, I know you can do it. Pleeease! I'm listening to it right now. WOW! Oh Very Young. NICE.

This better be on DVD soon. I'd love to see it. What really bothers me is that I'm here in NY and never got any (pardon the pun) "wind" of him landing here, let alone performing, even if it was for a select group.

Funny moment. He got a "new voicemail" alert as he was being interviewed.

That was wonderful. At the end of the program, they mentioned that there is more material (songs and interview) that they weren't able to fit in, but they will air it sometime in the early part of 2007.

Nice interview, I liked the questions. And Yusuf really seemed at ease.
Didn't he sound just like he did during the Majikat concert at the end when he kept saying " The Band, The Band, The Band!"
Oh, and I love hearing Oh Very Young live

These people are good (fast)! The archive has just now appeared on the KCRW website. Here's the link: www.kcrw.com/music/programs/mb/mb061221yusuf(click on the tiny blue "listen" and their player will open up. The sound quality is quite good.)

GREAT INTERVIEW. Yusuf sounded just wonderful. But somehow I was under the impression that it would be video as well as audio. THere was a spot for a video section, but it was just audio. Did everyone else get the same.
Peace,Vivian

Vivian,
I guess that because the broadcast was for radio, that only audio was provided. I too hope that KCRW makes the video available, that would be great!
This is just a sweet sweet thing to listen to--anybody who says that dreams can't come true never dreamed of *this*.....

I do hope that someone will upload an mp3 file of the event, because we can't go to an exact spot in the file if we want to refer someone to it or go there ourselves.
By the way, what was he calling out at the very end, I can't understand it. Perhaps arabic.

This is my favorite interview and live performance yet! I think Nic Harcourt did a great job with the interview, and Yusuf shined, as usual !
I love the joyful quality to Yusuf's singing, and his voice is awesomely strong and brings the message straight to my heart.
Thanks to Yusuf and all who worked so hard to bring us this great show! Laurie

I'm listening to it right now and loving it...wonderful interview. The humor here and there is great too....like when they were talking about his ego....cause he was so good. ;D and he definitely still is.

Once again thanks for the links. I was really hoping he would stop by KFOG in SanFran. They usually have listeners in the studio + they provide an audio & video clip on their website. Sounds like he is in California. I don't know what's involved in artists playing on stations.
