This is about the most ludicrous thing I have ever seen. I kinda feel sad for the maker of this short movie becuase he has nothing else to do. except the man who plays cat stevens and looks like him a bit, everything else is just portrayed wrong about Yusuf, his life and his religion.
The words that you say lightens up the burden of the day, Whatever you do makes us wana follow you, Whatever they say,Whatever they do, we'll always love you

Hmmm I don't know what to make of this I think I'll have to watch it a few more times. Really can't make up my mind what I think of this. It may be an honest, non professional, attempt to portray Cat/Yusufs life on film, but then again it could also be a send up . Who knows.

From YT:
"This is the first version of the promotional trailer starring Tom Fry as Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam to give potential producers an idea of the screenplay and how I look and sound as the potential lead role for the film. A shorter version is available upon request."

Thankyou for that piece of info Glaucus. Does that mean a film could be in the making, in the near future. Actually, Tom Fry seems a very good candidate for the leading role. I feel a film about Yusufs life, should be released after Yusuf wins the Nobel Prize. It won't be long now.

This is definitely very interesting, and it sure does look like it could be a clip from a film of Cat's life. I do agree that Tom Fry looks a bit like Cat and later as Yusuf, but I just don't think his singing voice is the best. Of course, I don't think anyone's voice would match. Hopefully the lead actor would be able to lip sync to Cat's/Yusuf's songs.

A great clip of Tom Fry's take-on of the Cat, but although he looks quite handsome, it doesn't compare to the real Cat Stevens. The man once born Steven Demetre Georgiou, had the sweet voice of an angel. His good looks were something that many of our female fans beguiled us, and filled our hearts with joy, and even today in the 00s, that sweet voice still sounds vibrant as it did then. The image, however, is in the Cat of Old.

Tom Fry is doing his level best to sound like Cat Stevens, but his voice sounds not a bit like the real Cat himself. We all loved Steven Georgiou, and he meant everything to me and my parents as well. You'll never, ever see another man, whose looks were as ever charming as he was, nor will you hear a man with such a sweet voice like the Cat once had in those very early days of our time.

Hey, I just played the Cat Stevens Story clip, and love that way he's talking to Katherine, and imitating the cool Cat Stevens of the 70s. He's saying ,"I wanna get off this ride, and I wanna be free of this lifestyle." This guy, Tom Fry would do an excellent imitation of the Cat. But I do think that the man known as Steven Georgiou, was a brilliant singer, whose music has conquered all generations and brought music into this world.

I agree. As far as acting, I think Tom Fry is right on spot, but singing, I think the lead actor would need to know how to lip sync to Cat's records.

I think the "Cat" look-alike is amazing each time I watch it. The imitation when he speaks to Katherine sounds just like Cat himself, and I reckon that he'd play an excellent role as Cat Steven, especially with the long, jet-black hair and beard. The real "Cat's voice had much more range in the "70s, that every fan of him longed to meet him, touch him, and make him feel welcomed by. I recall in the Paul Is Dead documentary, when they thought Paul had died, an actor named William Campbell as Billy Shears played a Paul McCartney look-alike. This documentary on Paul's death, was really a hoax, and that caused a frenzy.
Let's see if Tom Fry can make his own voice sound more like Cat's, we really worshipped him in those days!!!

Here's the part in this film, that's intriguing. I love it when he's saying to Katherine "I wanna get off, and I wanna be free, you know. I don't wanna live this lifestyle anymore." And then he's adding this one ,"Until I know better, or how music can fit into this whole thing, perhaps I'd better take a break from this for a while!" He's obviously saying this to make his fans mystified, unwilling to understand the reason for turning his back on the biz.

Remember this though, in recent interviews with Yusuf, he even said that he handled that all wrong. Still, I don't think Cat intentionally made that statement to leave his fans mystified. At the time, he likely believed that was his only way out. Of course, I do think that part of that statement is what brought "Cat" back to us, in the form of Yusuf!

This video of Tom Fry is an absolutely breathtaking film clip. He plays the part of Cat Stevens brilliantly, especially when he talks to one of his fans Katherine, and tells her,"Call it what you want! I live in hotel romms, suitcases, my fulfillment is so much more than music." This take-on of Cat Stevens is facsinating, and I can't take my eyes off of it. But the real, cool and true star, once upon a time, was Steven Demetre Georgiou, and he was the real cat that got the cream, (or in France, the French would say) "the creme de la creme"
