Cristalina this is wonderful news. I think he is starting to enjoy being interviewed. I'm very curious on what line of questioning Ronan will follow. Hope I can tune in tomorrow so I can hear them talking.
Thankyou for this link Cristalina.

Than you, cristalina. Unfortunately, I get this message when I try to tune in: "Sorry - we have detected that your computer is connected to the internet using a non-UK-registered connection address..." Maybe it's only for the UK. I'm not sure of the broadcast time in the US, either. Does anyone know? Thanks, ~Sun~

I just opened up an older radio interview on this site and it played with no problem. Maybe once they post it, you'll be able to play it if you couldn't listen to it live. I'm in Portland OR and it's 11am PST, so most likely it played live about 8 hours ago or so. Not sure how long it takes for them to post a show after it airs live but you should keep checking the site. I know I will! Let's hope they do post it!

I don't think we have missed it at all, it still shows as being on next Saturday! Ronan & Yusuf - Hero's HeroesSee 13:00 hrs This Saturday on Smooth Radio we continue our series in which some of the highest profile characters in today's music scene talk to their own biggest musical influence. This week Boyzone's Ronan Keating interviews 70s pop/folk singer Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens. We'll hear how his challenging and enquiring mind got him into trouble as a young man, how the hymns of Catholic school awakened his spirit and how Little Richard turned him on to rock ‘n' roll. Plus, we'll hear how all of his music boils down to one thing; telling stories. Make sure you listen to Smooth Radio from 1pm this Saturday for the latest episode in this series.

Goodness I wish they'd get this right, they advertised it all week on the radio as being on last Saturday, as they did 2 weeks ago I switched the radio on just after 2pm and Yusuf and Ronan was mentioned but I didn't catch what they actually said, I assumed I'd just tuned in at the end.

I have just finished listening to the interview. Its long but very good. Yusuf mentions his musical "Moonshadow" he does not say when it will be out. He sounded so much more relaxed than he did a couple of years ago, he evens mentions his drunken days. www.smoothradioglasgow.co.uk/

Ah Regine your right! And thanks ladyhelen for posting the link! I had tried to find it without success - it still seemed to be indicating 'next week'. So this is really cool I'm downloading it right now so that I can listen to it a bit later. Ta again! P.S. You know what would be good? If we could add a peace sign &/or symbol to the smiley face icons list! Any possibilities of this Christine???

Well, so much for my idea that it would be on next week!!! They need to update their info! What a great interview, Yusuf, is so relaxed, I think he prefers a radio interview to being in front of an audience! Just two friend's chatting!

This is an amazing interview. I love the cheerful banter- I always thought that the interview done for Cafe Sessions was a tad stilted and in some parts didn't seem to flow very well- there were times when the interviewer seemed to make Yusuf feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, Yusuf seems to really enjoy speaking to Ronan.

First, I would like to thank Helen who made it possible for me to listen and downlowd this incredible interview. It might just be, 'The Interview' of the year. This is the begining of what's in stall for us from YI in 2009. I don't think I have ever heard him so relaxed talking about himself, not even at the peak of his career. Ronan guiding Yusuf through the different stages of his past, making him open up to speak freely and honestly, not feeling he had to hide anything from us, gave us the impression this is real CS/YI. We realize he hasn't lost his sense of humour, which pleases me. Refreshing his memory, it's obvious he is comfortable with his past, and has no problem laughing at himself. I think he even enjoys it. He has done himself a real favour by opening up, and accepting his past, he is finally 'Full Crcle' as Lucy13 put it. I'm going off the topic a bit, but has anyone noticed how he pronounces the letter 'O' in words. Very distinctive. I don't think I have ever heard anyone pronounce 'O' the way he does, except maybe his brother. Is this the usual pronounciation of 'O' in the part of London were they grew up? Just listen carefully and you will see what I mean.

I have noticed that distinct "O" pronounciation it is very unique, it's as though the letter "O" becomes the most important letter in a word he is saying.... But just on what you said before I think that if this interview is anything to go by, we are all in for a wonderful 2009.

Sue, maybe it's because you're English, and your ear is used to this pronounciation. I notice it's more obvious when he says the word "gOing". I have heard other English people speak, but I have not heard it so pronounce. It's unusual in a nice way. Americans, Australians, New Zealanders and Canadians all have there own way of speaking the English language. I just find YI'S kind of cute.

I couldn't help but laugh at this - to my American ears, all of his pronunciation is unique and distinctive - and quite lovely. Maybe because the two of you are (or were, in Vicki's case) in Australia, you can hear the "o" in particular? ~Sun~ Edited to mention that Vicki was in Australia.

Thanks so much for posting this link! I am not familiar with Ronan or Boyzone but it is wonderful to hear tales of people being inspired and then their writing inspiring others.
Ronan sounds like a real sweetheart and very sincere in his admiration of Yusuf.
Didn't know Yusuf was aware of Bobby Darin he left us too soon he was a great talent too.

Sue - have not heard the version of Father & Son that Yusuf did with Ronan? You can find the video on Youtube or download the song on iTunes. Great to see the next generation respect and admire the man.
