Thanks for the heads up on this one! I bought a copy just to see what it is and I'll report back! I've never heard of that song either! Interesting indeed!

Maybe a song from the upcoming album? Have you heard this song Ale? Is this song like the songs from the 9 lives cd? Stevens/Prime, must be an old song, who is Prime? Contact Kathy Coleman. Should we dare? Cal, Nash, NY. These are places Yusuf has recently been are they not? Interesting, it will have us guessing and scratching our heads for a while, hope for not too long though.

It really had me puzzled as well. I can't imagine it would be a new song from the forthcoming album, as it should be credited to Yusuf, should it not? But you never know what record labels do with in-house promos? SONY would make sense as he did meet with Rick Rubin, didn't he? That is before Rubin left SONY.

The answer is it's not by Cat a Stevens at all! So I have to raise a dispute with EBay. Still at least we know.

Uuhhh!!! Bad news, Chris. I had hopes that it was a preview of the new album. I'm sorry. I wish you luck with the trial. Ale.

Chris - you should be OK with EBay. Sorry I even found it now and that you had to go through the trouble. On a brighter side, the guy was originally asking twice what it eventually sold for.
I'm sure it's not even the guy's fault - it looks like he sells a lot of stuff and he just picked this up and it does say Cat Stevens.

Many thanks indeed for all your concern. Please do not be concerned about having discovered it in the first place. That is why this forum is so useful. We are constantly finding new things out there. It was worth the money just to know. I am sure that the seller was duped in this situation too and I have made that clear in my comments back to eBay and the person concerned. I wait to hear their reply but I am sure it was a genuine mistake. It would be interesting to know who is actually singing the song and how it came to be marked in such a strange way. I doubt if we will ever know.. Anyway many thanks again to all of you and let's all look forward to the new album! Chris

I got a full refund from the seller. They obviously bought the item in good faith too. So please do not boycott the seller, they acted honourably!
Thanks,
Chris

Richina - with all this talk of instrumental versions - you do have that Bluegrass tribute CD, I hope Hey Trottsie!! I must admit I don't have that CD. I've seen it for sale but the only person I want to hear doing Cat songs is....well, Cat! I'm sure it's interesting...just not my cup of tea. And anyway, we've got a place in south Mississippi, and have friends who play Bluegrass....just don't know how it would sound if they were playing "Tuesday's Dead"! Guess I'm just too musically closed minded.... But I can say I wish Yusuf would do an album of Blues...his voice seems well suited to that genre I think. Hey Everybody...I was looking back over old stuff (avoiding mowing the yard) and ran across this post. I have to apologize to Dan because I should have heeded his suggestion of listening to this CD. I was recently cruising Itunes, looking for music to add to my Ipod, and gave some of these songs a listen. I LOVED THEM!! The tunes are so catchy, and are not difficult to identify as Cat's. To be honest, I think Yusuf would love them too!! So, thank you Trot-trot....and I promise not to be so close minded next time! Oh, and everybody notice that Yusie listened to my great idea!!! (see above purple writing ) dang it's hot outside ....but that 3 acres of grass ain't gonna cut itself! *sigh* GEAUX SAINTS!! PS And in case anyone is wondering....I'm still collecting stuff! Shut up Janey!!

OK, Ok here's what I think. I think that either the guy was successful in returning that envelope to "Cat", or that Cat had duplicates of the items that were in the envelope because the ~really cool~ song "Was Dog a Doughnut?" did get released. OR, this guy was a fan who had just never bought "Izitso" and thus never heard the song before. Not sure of his timeline here.
I also would have tried (as he did) to return the contents of the envelope to its original owner, Yusuf. I probably might have asked if I could keep the envelope though because I liked the handwritten message on it! "Keep until the Cat returns!" Ha, love that.
nice piccies you got there, richina!

Not to worry...I schooled him on the song and how it was the first of its' kind (but in a very nice way of course). I guess he didn't really do his homework...but what you gonna do? If Yusuf did get the envelope back, you would have thought he might have thanked the guy. But one thing about it, I don't believe Paul tried to profit from anything. What I paid for the photos was donated to a world hunger charity, so I think he's a pretty upstanding guy!! And anyway, if he's got anything left, I've gotta stay on his good side! Glad you liked!

Now he's probably on eBay looking for a copy of Izitso. I kid. Nice to hear he donated the proceeds to charity. I like that. It must have been interesting going through all that stuff from storage.

Thanks so much for posting the photos and the article on the storage locker - fascinating! It will be interesting to see what else 'surfaces' from that locker.
Can you make out what is on the t-shirt that Cat is wearing in your photos?
