I would be happy to see Yusuf do a limited tour. I can understand a big tour being "too much" especially on his family life. (big kudos to his wife! (in advance)) (she really must be a strong and kind woman to be putting up with even the thought of his touring (and even his overall re-emergence onto the scene. It must be a huge adjustment on them all.) Now, having said this... I really think there ought to be special tickets "set aside" in every city for oh.......... say............. Majicat site members... Seems fair.

Not everyone has the time or opportunity to participate in these online fan sites...I don't think that means they are less of a fan or admirer. Sorry I don't mean to be rude and I appreciate majicat just as much as the next person (there is some truly amazing stuff archived here!) but I don't necessarily agree with the entitlement thing for lack of a better word. I do hope he agrees to a few public dates at small size venues (actually, I'm reasonably confident it will happen). This is really where he always belonged and was at his best.

harmonie, In the past, Yusuf has made arrangments for site members to go to lectures and appearances and meet with him afterwards. That is what Lucy is referring to I am sure. -Sue-

Hi bookworm, thanks.
Maybe he'll do some CD signings. In fact, I'm surprised he hasn't done any yet; although they are generally pretty impersonal. Sort of like waiting in line to see Santa (LOL forgive the analogy!)

(Me, I would just call ticketron...lol.) Wow how times have changed. Or maybe they've come full circle. So do you still have the number to Val Davies

Wonderful interview!! It's quite extraordinary listening to Yusuf speak of his musical journey knowing he has resumed it again, something I thought would never happen... Jackie

Hi Harmonie (majicat member), I guess that's my point exactly. I've invested over the last 6 years probably being too much of a fan... letting other things go... with very, very little "payoff." Writing on the message boards. Sending in art. Creating a crossword. Writing fan reviews. Organizing a Catfest. Etc... Both here on this site, and on others, including the former CS.com. (the only reason I specified Majicat is coz it's the only real forum left.) Others have had the chance to meet Yusuf or see Cat in concert. I haven't. Besides... I was talking half tongue-in-cheek about the set-asides... but I still think it would be a decent idea! And not hurting anyone.

I agree with Lucy. She was just injecting a little light hearted humor into the conversation along with a little wishful thinking. That is part of what being a fan is all about. We mustn't take ourselves too seriously. Being a fan is one of the pleasures in a life filled with the serious day to day business of being a responsible citizen of the world. An injection of joy to balance out the everyday ho hum, so to speak.

Also remember, this is what the Members"MES AMIS" Area on Yusuf's site is for. There'd likely be something set aside for us.

There is a high quality version of this show up on the KCRW site now, Yusuf had a hand in mixing it himself: Thanks LadyD. Too bad it is badly compressed (like everything RealAudio!) because it sounds like a very nice mix. Whatever happened to that unrehearsed "Father & Son" and I believe there was another song as well. Since I put everything live from the promo tour on a CD yesterday (67 minutes of music!), I'll stick to the radio version from dimeadozen.

I'm thinking it would be way too much to even hope that he'd come to Australia. The market is too small, distance too far. Mrs Islam would probably really put her foot down if he even considered venturing to the southern hemisphere.
Hmmm. I'm depressing myself. Should I bother joining MES AMIS? Whatcha all reckon?
Cheers jenb

Thanks for the response I do hope you get your chance to see Yusuf in the near future and that the experience is everything you wish for it to be. Truly I do! Wasn't sure where you were coming from before (but now I get it, thanks ) What can I say other than I hope you've enjoyed the time invested and made some good friends along the way. Guess I just bristle at the notion that to be a good fan (so to speak) you need to be an on-line devotee. Been to fan events before and some of the most sincere fans don't do any of the things you described...really and truly. It;s not everyone;s cup of tea. But I;m sure you know that already Have a great week wherever you are, harmonie (occassional majicat member and non-registered mes amis)

I didn't know that there exists an edition on CD of this concert. Perhaps the sound quality is better than the one is available to download. Don't you think so? Also it's very interesting that on the back side appears the names of the musicians that played with him on that concert. We didn't have this information till now. Ale.

Interesting :-) Nice find
The cover says it is a bootleg, so it isn't an official release. But it also says that it was recorded from FM radio. So, my bet is that it's audio quality is quite good.

I don't know which way the ticket/meet and greet issue would go (I vacillate about it, but tend toward Vivian's view), but I agree with the above and put my vote in for The Benaroya in Seattle or The Alladin Theater in Portland! The Benaroya is obviously more likely, lol. (And of course, in Portland all the old baby boomers would be screaming because The Alladin is pretty small, but it has great sound, and all the former big headliners of 30+ yrs ago now play there.) Oh, and thanks for the memory about "Ticketron" - haven't heard that word in years!! (Decades?)
