You know, I dare say that the money some of you spend flying around the world to see Br Yusuf repeatedly in person would be much better spent if you donated it to his charity Small Kindness.
I am of the opinion that he would concur. He is no longer a pop star... he is a man with a mission... spreading peace and understanding in the world... and supporting orphans.

Frankly, I love hearing these stories. Also, these people are also buying tickets to see Yusuf perform, thus helping his charity at the same time. I donate to Small Kindness whenever I can, but still, if I were able, I'd fly across the Atlantic to see his show, if I could.
Peace,Vivian

Kareema, really. had your self-righteous tea this morning?!! exactly ONE person said they will be at this concert. & I really don't believe anyone knows what Yusuf thinks, 'cept maybe his wife. It's nice a few people get to see Yusuf in these live events, we are his fans and need reportage. ;D Unto me, my opinion and unto you, yours. Welcome back, LadyD. Kareema

Kareema, I'm sure you must have bought "An Other Cup" tut tut shame on you if you did, you could have donated the whole cost to Small Kindness I think you'd be surprised as to how few of his items I do have. I have bought most of the Islamic catalog more than once... to give away. And besides, I was talking about airfare, hotel accommodations, etc. My work handles meet and greets, advance ticket sales, fan merchandise, fan club memberships, etc for quite a few artists. Day after day my coworkers... and fortunately not me... have to deal with fan frenzy about their faves. The point I apparently was unclear in making is that Br. Yusuf is not your typical commercial artist. And I'm glad... it's pretty sad when a supervisor has to talk to a distraught fan because KISS perfume is on backorder. Kareema

You know, I dare say that the money some of you spend flying around the world to see Br Yusuf repeatedly in person would be much better spent if you donated it to his charity Small Kindness. Respectfully, you're making assumptions here. Perhaps some of these same people make donations to SK. Perhaps they don't. Perhaps they even donate the same amount they spend to travel - "matching funds", if you will. Perhaps they don't. Regardless, it's their own business. Perhaps they have other reasons to travel to a locale where Yusuf just happens to be appearing and decide to add some extra enjoyment to their vacation plans or business trip. Again, it's their own business. I am of the opinion that he would concur. Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong. But as you have indicated your awareness that this is just your opinion of his thoughts, it's all good. He is no longer a pop star... I gotta disagree here. With An Other Cup - not to mention various recent live performances - Yusuf has certainly made a foray back into the "pop" domain. he is a man with a mission... spreading peace and understanding in the world... and supporting orphans. Agreed. But I think we should keep in mind that being a "pop star" and engaging these activities are not mutually exclusive endeavors. -Joanne

I was sent this information tonight: The German TV station "Phoenix" will air part of last weekend's discussion with Yusuf, Desmond Tutu and M. Gorbachev and others tommorrow (Tue, Jul 3) at 2:45 p.m. local time (UTC + 2 hrs.) Phoenix is broadcast via satellite in most of Europe. It is an open channel, no need to subscribe or decode the signal. You will find more about tomorrow's Phoenix program here: PHOENIX PROGRAM
