I was wondering what is your favorite Cat album to listen to while driving and why? Mine is "Catch Bull At Four". You start off with "Sittin" then you go through all emotions with "Moon and Star" and "Silent Sunlight" he gets me fired up w/"Angelsea" "Can't keep it In","18th Ave"and "Freezing Steel". "O Caritas" haunts me and then "Sweet Scarlet" and "Ruins" calm me down and make me so damn introspective. I drove quite a distance this Easter listened to almost every cat album during the drive, just got me thinking I guess.

It would have to be "Tea for the Tillerman." You start off with the energy of "Where do the Children Play?", followed by "Hard Headed Woman." Then the tone settles into introspective sounds, culminating in "Into White" and "Father and Son." I love to drive while listening to slightly melancholy sounds, and this album is perfect for that.

Right now I have Tea for the Tillerman in my CD player. But, one of my favorite songs to listen to while driving is, The Foreginer Suite. I just love the ending of the song. I love listening to it especially when I am driving on a long country road.

The suite speaks for itself but 100 I Dream is maybe my favorite Cat Stevens song period. Such emotion it really gets me rockin throwing my arms around while driving. David Gray does that to me too.

I drove up to see my family and friends back in oregon this spring break. I was listening to cat stevens music to stay awake on the 13 hour drive. It worked very well. I just cycle through all the songs I have on my computer using a settup of my own design. I think I have a pretty big collection ( even larger than the box set vivian!) Being that the songs were random I got interesting coincidential playings of certain songs. For instance, shortly after I crossed the oregon state border (maybe just 10 miles!) "Home" came on after having not been played for a long time. Then I think after a cop had pulled me over at 2am (apparently due to me using the gas station bathroom and driving while arab) and let me go(possibly due to the fact that I had no arab accent), I heard "Trouble" . There were other interesting concidences but I forget them now. Last time I drove home to oregon I found myself falling asleep and the radio had little to offer in some parts of the drive, but with an almost endless compelling set of cat stevens music playing and me getting so into the songs I was able to stay awake all the way...didn't even have to stop. I am greatful for that as it helped me to see my family quickly and safely. The only side effect is that I was a little hoarse at the end Incidentally it's not hard to do this technically. I think all cat stevens songs will fit onto one CD as mp3's. Then you get a CD rom player with a cassette plugin and mp3 support($40) and nobody has an exuse ... hahaha peace 2 u, -anwar ps: To fully answer your question, when not driving cross country I listen to "Prayers of the Last Prophet" by Yusuf Islam it really helps me calm down in the midst of the traffic and stress of driving in the city.

Teaser and the firecat 4 me. I love the mellow start with "the wind", then the up tempo of "rubylove". Next I always enjoy singing with feeling " if I laugh" especially at traffic lights (even if people stare at me) then grooving to "changes IV", etc etc....... there is a great pattern to the song order; slow / fast / slow / fast. Brilliant, LOVE IT, I have covered many miles driving my kids around Sydney listening to Teaser.

I made a CD of all my favorite songs of Cats from Matthew and Son to Seeing My Grandson Grow Old, I usually play that now... Just because I don't want to take the chance or ruining my original CD's.
I really love the catchy tune to "I've Got A Thing About Seeing My Grandson Grow Old"

I play his Greatest Hits quite often but I also make up my own CDs for different moods. I must have made 20 or more CDs just with Cat music.

i think foreigner might be a bit long if you only go shopping in your car I agree. I usually save the "Foreigner" CD for our long 8 hour car trip to Chicago to visit our daughter and husband. The Box Set is good for long trips, too. Lora
