Anyone have any idea of the translation of the kanji(?) symbols that are located at the top of the logo on the Catch Bull at Four album? I have literally been wondering about this for about 10 years now :-)
Thought it was time to consult the experts!

What I remeber Yusuf saying on his majicat DVD interview was they symbolise the 4 stages of enlightenment. You catch the Bull by on the fourth stage. I think it may have been during his Budhism stage.

That is pretty close. The set of imagery is from the Zen set of 10 bulls. And yes, the four picture is the catching the bull. I am sure it has some to do with Buddhism - just looking for more specific translations.

I think it was a "cartouche" - a symbol of his signature he made up and while it looks Asian, I don't think it's actually Chinese or Tibetan or any other language. It also appears on that yellow and blue painting he did of the child and cow called "Untitled" that's in the Starart book. Do you know there's 16 x 20 posters available of this art for $75 through Debbie Cheshire's website? I'm so excited because of all the art I've seen of his, this is my absolute favorite. The composition, colors, subject matter, mystical quality. It's going to look fabulous in my house! Now I just have to meet him someday so he can sign it properly, ha ha!
