Hmmmmm....... Interesting. Looks like somebody has somehow put their hands (!) on that rare stuff reported in Yusuf's blog that's supposed to be released later this year. Certainly not something "official" judging by the CD pictures. I'll wait for the legitimate release.

If that's the case, I think I'll wait too.

I thought you guys would say that. And considering it looks like there's a bidding war going on, I think as tempting as it is, I'll wait as well.

It's amazing how quickly someone can leak these things... and confusing to my emotions too! I'd much rather own the official release of this, but at the same time I'd sure like to hear it right now too! Vivian, in an earlier post (in response to my query about the moon & star concert/petition), you said that you once saw someone selling the master wheel/reel of the concert on ebay and, tempting as it was, you didn't have enough funds to get it. I told my son about that and I thought his response was a really excellent yet simple solution. He said why not get everyone on the board to contribute to the purchase, seeming most majicat fans want this concert, if everyone contributed then everyone could share the reward of having a copy! I thought this was brilliant, so, if you are every lucky enough to see it selling again on ebay and if it could be authenticated, then maybe we could all join in by sending money to a majicat trust or something... Thanks for sharing this link - it was still somehow nice to get a preview of sorts for what's to come!

I bought the one where Cat jams with Ringo and I know I had my expectations too high,(another Tillerman) but I only listened to it once. From memory it has them doing 4 drunken versions of Blue Monday. On the other hand,if it was worthy of his name I would happily be dragged across a football feild by my testicles in order to secure a copy.........

Ouch.....
Certainly looks like a bootleg, but I'm sure it would be an interesting listen.

Maybe we should set up a eBAY WATCH ( like Bay Watch ;D ) just a little humour, sorry. What was the going price for this concert? If it isn't an outrageous price, maybe your son's idea is a good one. Anyone up for being an eBAY WATCH volunteer: Who knows what else we might find.

Believe or not, I actually found an online review of this bootleg !!!! Vivian, you might consider not reading the next few lines, the temptation might be to strong for you. ;D ------------------------------------------------------------- CAT STEVENS - 9 LIVES - online review: Morgan Studios, London, England - 1970, 1971 (48:27) Wild World, If I Laugh, This Can Be Love, Changes IV, Katmandou, Morning Has Broken, It’s So Good, Tuesday’s Dead, Don’t Be Shy, Who’ll Be My Love, Moonshadow, How Can I Tell You, Peace Train, The Fisherman, If You Want To Sing Out Sing Out When you consider that there have been virtually no outtakes from the most prolific era of Cat Stevens’ career (the early ’70s), “9 Lives” is a revelation. And at its best, this collection of solo acoustic demos rivals the best work in his catalog; here we have one of the world’s most original singer/songwriters at the top of his game, running through his songs (some of which would go on to become beloved classics) in the comfy confines of London’s Morgan Studios. The CD includes embryonic versions of “Wild World,” “Peace Train,” “Moonshadow” and even “Morning Has Broken” (astonishing to hear on acoustic guitar, long before Rick Wakeman was brought in to add a bit of piano magic). Some of the lyrics are different. There are three songs Cat never “officially” recorded for “Mona Bone Jakon,” “Tea For the Tillerman” or “Teaser and the Firecat” (the albums these songs were demo’d for), and while they’re not quite as strong, lyric-wise, as the best things on those classic records, it’s simply breathtaking to hear the young Cat, with his sexy growl, on melodies we’ve never heard before. He was, quite simply, a brilliant artist. The sound on “9 Lives” is studio quality - it’s as if you’re in the room with Cat - and it’s a marvelous listen from start to finish. From the rollicking “Tuesday’s Dead” and “Changes IV” to the whisper-quiet “Katmandu” and the bouncy “If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out,” the CD is a Cat Stevens fan’s dream come true. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Oh and Jonathan, you wrote: It's amazing how quickly someone can leak these things... One promotional copy in the "wrong hands", that's all it takes. Next thing you know, this will come up on torrent sites!

Thanks for posting that review, Glaucus. After reading that, I'm certainly interested! I'll try to be patient, though, and wait for the "authorized version." btw, Waterice: My goodness, you are a die-hard fan, to say the least... woof! double ouch!! joni...

LOL- Yes I am Joni.
My 6 year old daughter sits in the back of my car singing 'I don't want to live in a palace, there's too many empty rooms'......... guess I've handed my love of C.S. onto another generation.

yes I did and it's phenomenal, so wonderful! Yes, there is an auction going on right now and I know the seller has more. I definitely recommend it. There's a lot of material on this disk and while some of it might be released later on the upcoming Tea and Teaser CDs with unreleased footage, I doubt all of this will be included. In my experience when these kinds of expanded albums are rereleased with rare outtakes or demos or whatever, usually there's no more than 3, maybe 4 cuts added... not to be cynical, but it's a way the record companies sell more of the same old catalog by adding a few extras to boost sales.

Hmm, you certainly make it sound tempting, McKenzy... Well, it is a beautiful morning here in Minneapolis, so I am off to the car wash and to fill up the tank. Perhaps after paying for a tank of gas I will be a bit less tempted! Jane

raredisks? Ah, no, is that the seller's ebay name? If any of you are following the current auction on ebay there's about 32 hours left and it's at a low $15. Of course that could change at the last minute as we all know!

I tried but couldn't resist bidding on it, but I won't divulge how much I bid! Yikes! There is less than 8 hours left on the auction - I guess I will see what I wake up to.

wow, this auction's over and it went for $108.00 inc shipping. Yeah - I was shocked because I was not cheap with my bid. If rarediscs really does have more, he is smart to auction them off one at a time. I for one am a bit ticked that I didn't get it, and am totally willing to bid more to get it, as crazy as that is!

After I posted this I checked my email. The seller said I had the second highest bid and he was offering to sell me another copy for what I bid. I am a sucker so off to Paypal I went! I should get the CD next week, so I will be sure to post my review!

I know this seller. Read the booklet that came with the box set that was released a few years back. Bill wrote the liner notes for that. Odd, he usually has a reserve price set. I may try for these. Hmmm, while I really don't want to bid against fellow majicatters from this site, I too want this Saturnight concert. Is there some way we can all help each other out? I'm totally willing to share the 9Lives demo CD in exchange for a live concert. Just have to figure out how to burn a CD on my computer, ha ha. I'm on the hunt for concert recordings... hint hint hint
