I hope all these videos on YouTube don't dissuade people from buying the DVD when it becomes available in the US. I'm sure there are some people who will not buy the DVD if they don't like what they see on YouTube.

This is wonderful! Thank you Christina and littleone. Yusuf really lights up a room. Wonder if we'll ever get to buy this in the US.

Interesting thought, Jane. And vice versa - there will be those who will buy because they like what they see. Maybe they'll be taken down from YouTube. I don't want to do anything wrong, but while they're here, I'll watch, and if they disappear, I'll understand. Oh, life gets so complicated!

the female back up was a nice touch.... It does sound like a female backup singer, but I can't see her anywhere. Could it be a male backup who's singing falsetto?

It is a lady singing backing vocals on the Live in Australia shows, not a man singing falsetto. Her name is Alison Jiear. She is an Australian born singer who is apparently quite well known on the London cabaret circuit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alison_Jiear

Yes, I see her now that you point her out, Christina, but it's not easy. Thank you for going back and finding her. There's never a close up. Too bad. Yes - a chest voice - I think falsetto would be nasal. And Monty, thank you for the link. Alison Jiear is quite interesting, and her voice is just wonderful backing Yusuf - adds some wonderful emotion to the performance. Did anyone notice that Yusuf sings "But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there" where it should be "But just remember there’s a lot of bad and beware?" Just a slip, I think, because he really does seem relaxed and at ease.

I totally agree with both of you, no one sings it like Yusuf and his voice is perfect for it - so much pain and emotion and just a touch of vibrato when he sings, "I would have given you all of my heart, but there's someone who's torn it apart," and then the rain coming down like tears . . . wow, very touching. Peace, ~Sun~

My son who is 19. likes it very much specially the part with "GANJA". Is it the bad influence to him?He is in the age when things like that attract him a lot. Ganja at the old school yard?!

I don't know that one can really compare a live performance with a DVD. If you look back at the posts from the Australia concerts, the people who went to them thought just as highly of them as we do of the RAH show. If there was a DVD of the RAH show, there's no guarantee it would be any better than this one. Some of us just have an emotional attachment to RAH.
I certainly had ganja in the old schoolyard...
Yes,but hear in Croatia that is a serious crime.Although a lot of young people smoke, it is a big problem if they are cough with joint in pocket. But aside of that, this regge version is just fantastic. (much better than Wild World-Bana,Bana version) Soitis

@jane and of course Jane that is your opinion ...its interesting how you put theres no guarantee that RAH Concert DVD would be any different than the excerpts of Aussie Show.. ? One full concert and excertps from all the Aussie Shows??? Of course there would be a difference .. look at Majikat Concert! xo I've read the opinions of alot of people on the Aussie DVD and of the ones that went to the concerts... for it was not a full concert just excerpts..I really believe as do so many that RAH from beginning to end is a full moment of time of a Yusuf concert with everything .. no holds barred .. and what links the Performance of RAH different and certainly better altho you dont agree is it is raw .. rawness with no editing .. that makes it real to even those that havent even gone to the concert feeling it .. the breath the patterns of thought before Yusuf says anything .. the whole format or footprint in my opinion. Now I've been to so many of his concerts since 1972 that to me it ranks as the best I've seen ever.. and I've been to over 50 of them ~~! I do enjoy what I've seen of the Aussie DVD !! yet to me ... RAH was epiphanic what Yusuf felt and gave that night and received.. this I'm certain of . It wont be long Im sure AEG will release it .. they did say it was the best concert they did of 2009! but then we cant get enough of any of the concerts on DVD can we ?!!!! I will take them all.. but raw uncut breathing .. is what I want from beginnning to end .. and for the ones that havent gotten a chance to be there in person based on imagination they can feel it to. Magnificence

But aside of that, this regge version is just fantastic. (much better than Wild World-Bana,Bana version) Soitis God, I must have had a sheltered childhood! We had sugar (lollipops, Milk Duds, Good 'n' Plenty, Hershey's, you name it) at the old school yard, but not ganja. I'm amazed that Yusuf jokes about this and "sauce", too, and then puts it in the DVD! He certainly wears a coat of many colors. Soitis, since you ask, this is definitely a bad influence for your son. It may seem funny to joke about, but the legal and health ramifications are real and not funny, and to me there's no doubt that our kids will be much better off without this stuff in their bodies or arrests on their record. It's illegal! At 19, your son's friends may have more influence on him than you do, so it's important to try to get him around people his age who are good influences - not necessarily easy, I know. You can also set the example you want him to follow. I'm only offering my opinion because you asked. Of course, everyone has a right to their own opinion. BTW, at the end, it sounds to me as if Yusuf says, "Is that with the sponge or salt." (It just doesn't sound like "soap" to me, as someone else once suggested, but who knows.) Anyway, I looked up Jamaica and found that "Rastafarians eat 'Ital', which means that only natural, vegetarian food without salt is consumed." There's also sponge cake and diving for sponges in Jamaica, though I'm not sure sponges are edible. So, maybe you can order food in Jamaica with salt on the side, and maybe sponge cake for dessert. I cannot fathom why on earth I gave all this so much thought. I think I'd better go do something more useful.

A full concert can also be edited in a way that takes away from the impact of the live event. And yes, that is my opinion.

Ganja .......
While growing up in a Southern California beach community in the early seventies, my brother and I grew Ganja between the tomatoes. I haven't partaken since '77 in Berkeley.
However, each year here in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a group of 60-somethings (with some college-aged adjuncts) who are still trying to make it legal, stage "The Hash Bash" on the University of Michigan campus. Hundreds of people congregate on a given day to smoke openly and blatantly in public. Naturally, the police do nothing.
(But it does have the interesting side effect of highlighting the fact that the American legal system deals differently with drug offenses by college students and those by black inner city residents.)
Not long ago, I was shocked to see the son of a friend smoking hash from a hooka, poolside, with three of his friends while the parents were sipping Chardonnay. Isn't it great that Yusuf talks openly about his oat-sowing years? It takes a lot of courage to do revisit the embarrassments as well as the triumphs.

Yes it is great. That means that he is not so orthodox as some of us doubt.
Joking about marijuana is not as propagate legalization of it. Yusuf did not have intention to propagate it.And in seventy's legalization of the light drags was considered as a fight for freedom and human rights. So I think this is some kind of reminiscence of these times.
In my country some musicians openly sing how it is good to smoke and young people adopt that.So under their influence they start to use it regularly. This brings them to conflict with the law and some of them who are growing it for own use if they are are caught finish in prison Even for year or more. And of course, that stop them from studding and brings them to the edge of the society.
So for conclusion:IF GANJA IS ILLEGAL, THAN POPULAR PERSONS LIKE SINGERS SHOULD NOT SING OR EVEN MENTION IT IN AFFIRMATIVE WAY,because they send wrong message to young listeners. And I am not convinced that it is harmless. It appears in urine Even after one month of usage.
But still this regge version is so good. What to think?! When I was young we drank a lot , but just one from my circle become drinker. It is the same with light drags.

Magnificence If you are going to respond to something I wrote, I respectfully ask that you be accurate about what it is that I wrote. I never said it would not be different, so can we stop referring to that? "Better" is subjective. I don't care for Majikat - I watched it once and will likely never watch it again. To me, it is not better than the Australia DVD. That's my opinion and yours is different. That's what opinions are all about.
