Thanks for the info Jane! About my DVD player, it had PAL capabilities because it was marketed for both Europe and North America. Obviously, not all DVD players sold in NA will play PAL. So all I had to do really was to enter a sequence on the remote to make it region free. This link here is very usefull for anything related to DVD and video: www.videohelp.com/

I ordered with these people too, but paid through PayPal. As you say, Gabi, they're really good at sending updates about the order! I just wish the release date would come and we'd actually get the DVD Can't wait... Jo

Does anyone know if this is Reg 2? which is for Europe.

Australian DVDs tend to be coded both Region 2 and 4, although we can't be certain it will be. I've bought a few Aussie DVDs and they have always played fine in the UK. And as aurelia said, the Blu-ray region for Australia and Europe is the same.

I know the Australian DVDs I've had don't tend to advertise the fact they're also coded Region 2. The packaging says Region 4, the retailers sites don't mention it either. It just seems to be the case that they are. Hopefully it's the same with this DVD.

Doesn't making a copy on your PC make it region-free? My friends have made copies of Region 2 DVDs and I can play them on my DVD player, but I cannot play the "original" Region 2 DVD on the same player. That's what I'm planning on doing when this arrives.

Yes, I believe it does make it region-free. Copying to the PC removes the copyright protection and presumably the region protection, too.

I have received an email from JBS and they say that its only Reg 4 Helen - you should still order it and make a copy of it on your PC. You should then be able to play the copy on your DVD player.

Not too long to wait now. The price at JB Hifi has gone down by $1 and it seems they lowered the prices for pre-orders too, which is always nice. aurarisma, the Blu-ray would not work in the US. The copyright protection & region coding on Blu-rays is much harder to get around, I think, than DVDs.

I was just wondering, is this our young majicat friend Paul? Don't worry Gabi, your're not the only one who will be climbing the walls till they see the DVD. In the end we might even end up looking like this. Just joking, one month is nothing compared to the years we waited to see Yusuf on stage again.

The answer is yes, although I don't think I will actually buy one...

Jane, I was thinking muCH, mUCH, MUCH, BIGGER , like maybe a home cinema. ;D Just imagine, sitting in a closed room, comfy arm chair, speakers surrounding you, and a screen larger than life. Now I could just see Rechina, maybe we would have to strap her to the armchair for the first showing, and those bibs might come in handy too. ;D But in the privacy of a home cinema, for the second showing, unstrap her, and I would gladly join her for some dancing. I think in the end you won't resist to join us. ;D ;D An amazed, crazed cat, fangs showing, drooling, and the other sitting quetly on the shelf above, patiently waiting for the first showing to be over, and to let her loose. ;D Sorry, I think the waiting is really getting to me. ;D

We have a theater where I work - seats several hundred people. It is intended for large meetings, but it does have the capability to view DVDs on the big, theater-size screen. I may just see if there are others here who may want to view it in there...
hmm...wheels in my head are turning...

We'd have to turn up the sound and roll back the rug! Come on now, let me dance the first time through and then next we watch it quietly. What say Vicki, maybe we put earplugs and rope on Jane, then we can totally throw down with our crazy, out-of-date dance moves ('cause Dude, that's the best I got)! Oh, but wait....it's her theater! Okay okay, I'll do it your way. And don't forget to bring me an extra bib! ;D PS I'll bet Jane would put in a little wiggle every now and again....right?

Oh Rechina, if the USA was only a step, hop, skip, and a jump, across, I'd be there in a flash to join you. ;D You being a dancer, I'm sure you could teach me some of your fancy foot steps. Well tonight I think I will just dream on,...... dream on while Janes wheels in head are turning. Knowing Jane, she will think of something...dream on,...... dream on..........hmmmm. nightie night.
