HOWEVER, as I posted earlier, it will not all fit on a standard DVD. You will need to use a dual-layer DVD which means your laptop needs to have a dual-layer burner Or you can use DVD SHRINK, a neat little freeware program that will fit those dual layer DVDs into a single layer one. Of course it means more compression and the image quality suffers a bit. Anyway, it's an other option: www.videohelp.com/tools/DVD_ShrinkThanks, Glaucus - I have never heard of that! Another nifty little tool to keep on file - just in case...

I can't support torrent sites for these things - artists are entitled to receive pay for the product they put out and these torrent sites make commercial products available for free with no compensation to the artist. Not to be anyone's conscience but isn't it the same as stealing?

And I cannot believe that we are not making a bigger deal over the reggae version of "Remember the Days of the Old Schoolyard" in the rehearsal footage! It was FANTASTIC!! Very fun to hear him sing Somehow I suspected that you'll like it I'll be posting a new youtube-video called Reggae Yusuf soon - maybe that starts a bigger deal

Not to be anyone's conscience but isn't it the same as stealing? I have a friend that records concerts - but they are not for sale - they are for people to take - not making any money. This "torrent" is difficult to use at best - and so we pass on it. My friend became very angry when he found out the music (any artist) was being downloaded and then sold. He found it in the Asia area... So - that being said - I'll just keep buying my stuff...

I record concerts, too. I don't sell them either. That is no different than the assorted concert bootlegs many of us have. But that is very different from making a commercially available recording available to anyone for free. If someone wants the DVD (especially a fan!) they should purchase it and not take money out of the pockets of those who benefit from the sale of the DVD.
It is the same with making a copy of a CD for a friend. If that CD is available for sale, then you are ripping off the artist by just making a copy for someone. I only do it in cases where the CD is literally no longer available. Just because it is easier with digital recordings doesn't make it right.

Google search 'Free Youtube to MP3 converter". I have it, it's a small download, and works very well to extract audio from a youtube clip.

Is there a youtube clip of the reggae version - I could not find anything and I'm now very curious. I was going to wait for the DVD to hit the stores here (if it ever does) but now I'm thinking I simply must have it sooner

Love it!! Jane I get why you were making a big deal over this. And he even has the Jamaican accent thing going too. He's great - you kind of would not expect this of him in this phase of his life.
Thank you so much G-one for sharing that with us. I really enjoyed it.
Gotta go listen again...Ganga ;D too funny

Did he say it's a dysfunctional song at the end?
And not really partaking of the drug scene myself - what is the sauce reference? Anyone?

Did he say it's a dysfunctional song at the end? I think he's saying "Is that with the sponge or soap?"...and I have no idea what it means!

I must say I was a bit disappointed with the DVD. I found it hard to connect with and kind of dull, possibly due to the fact that the continuity is broken by having songs from different concerts as mentionned before. I wasn't upset not having "Peace Train" on it, but I would have loved to hear at least "Rubylove" and, yes, call me corny, I wanted to see "Waltzing Mathilda"! Favorite moment: "But I Might Die Tonite", now what a real treat hearing that song live after all these years. And I must say he's got a heck of a supporting band with him. I hope he considers doing "How Can I Tell You" and "Into White" in future shows and getting back on the piano. I guess I keep expecting to see a Cat Stevens show but that's wishfull thinking. He's older now, the energy isn't the same. I had been recently revisiting old concerts on video which might explain why I did not connect with this one. I do not recommand watching the "Majikat" show or "In Concert: Moon & Star" before watching this one! You can't compare them anyhow. But hey, who would have thought we'd be reviewing this kind of a concert from this man say like 15 years ago. It's a small miracle that he's gracing the world with his immense talent again. Anyhow, for what it's worth, I give it a 6 out of 10. ooppsss.. N.B. I enjoyed the short clip from Noxshi, interesting blend of genres. The special effects reminded me a lot of the "Joshua Light Show" from the late 60s, created of course by Joshua White who went on to direct "ABC IN CONCERT" including the "Moon & Star" special!

Glaucus, I do agree with you that the continuity is missing in this DVD. I have tried to focus on each song, seperate from the whole and in that way I enjoyed each song's delivery, admiring the strength and quality of Yusuf's voice. How many older singers do we know today who have lost their voices to the point that if not for their incredible music they should really not be singing anymore? As you said, he is older now and we will not see the energy that we once saw with Cat Stevens, however, we will, I am certain, continue to see a growing confidence and spurts of energy re-surface with time. Yusuf's decision to go back to making music is truly a miracle, as you mentioned. I hope that in the future we will see a complete concert from one venue so that we can appreciate the continuity from start to finish. As long as he keeps performing, it most likely will happen. Hope that he comes to Canada soon. I know he has many fans here, especially in the province of Quebec. I know that he once described the area around Morin-Heights as one of the most beautiful places that he had ever seen. George

As someone who has been so lucky to have seen him twice in 2009 (but have not seen the DVD) I have to say in the actual concerts there was no energy lacking at all. But I think possibly it was directed so much more at connecting with the audience. And of course that would not shine through unless you had a recording of a whole concert.

I agree - especially at the RAH concert in December 2009. Come on - there was so much energy his glasses flew off of his face! I don't expect to feel the same level of energy while watching a DVD as I would at the live concert. To me it's the same as the difference between seeing a play versus a movie version, or a movie at a theater versus watching the same movie at home. They're just different. Maybe I liked it as much as I did because I didn't have very high expectations?

Hi Charles,
He played Into White live in the Radio 2 session he did with Johnny Walker in 2009 and it was great! He let Alun play guitar and just sang the words. Nice stuff!
Cheers,
Chris
