Yes he should - and while he's at it, he should pop into NY for a quick show. We're really just around the block from D.C. ;D

I agree -- he should do it. He wants to stay nonpartisan/neutral, and though this has a bit of a liberal vibe (and I'm not) I still think it's a hoot. Also think it has a positive message. Do it!

Nice find, Mike... Yes, 'he should so do this' to quote your post. :)Yusuf up in the DC Mall with Stewert and Cobert. What a hoot that would be.

“… the organizers also have asked for Cat Stevens, aka Yusuf Islam. The famed 70s pop singer is deciding whether or not to accept the invitation.”This is really exciting. From reading on the internet about John Stewart’s “Rally to Restore Sanity” and Stephen Colbert’s “March to Keep Fear Alive”, I gather that their message is that extremists, whether political or religious, do not represent nor define the vast majority of the people, who simple want to get along with each other and live in peace. This could be really good for Yusuf, and seems to go nicely with Yusuf's latest post The Never Ending Rainbow over at Yusufislam.com. Of course, he’ll study the issues carefully, consult with people he trusts, and pray for guidance before making a final decision. If his decision is “Yes”, I imagine he’ll perform “Peace Train” and “Boots and Sand”. (Black jeans and boots - maybe a plain, rather than plaid, shirt (?) …)

This is interesting: Is Jon Stewart More Influential Than President Obama? Some quotes: The man who tops AskMen's list of the Top 49 Most Influential Men of 2010 is one of our youth's most trusted sources of information and a voice of both reason and hope in these economically and politically turbulent times. And no, he's not the president.
"The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart nabbed the No. 1 position on AskMen's annual list of men of influence...
But can a man who hosts the "fake news" five nights a week really be more influential than the President of the United States? Maybe.
Tomorrow night, Obama will be a guest on Stewart's show for the fifth time, and notably his first time as the President of the United States. Considering Obama's approval rating is lingering in the mid- to low-40% range, a significant drop from last year's 68%, returning to the show that gave him a political platform before he took office isn't such a bad idea with midterm elections around the corner.
And on October 30, three days before the midterm elections, Stewart will take over Obama's stomping grounds in Washington with his Rally to Restore Sanity, an event he is describing as, "a rally for people who've been too busy to go to rallies." Stewart will be joined by friend and host of "The Colbert Report" Stephen Colbert, No. 11 on AskMen's list, who will host his satirical March to Keep Fear Alive at the same time. "The Daily Show" host insists that the event is non-political, but with well over 100,000 Americans already planning to attend, Stewart might just do a better job shaping America's political sphere simply by working outside of it. Modern Men Are More Inspired By Rule Breakers and Path Blazers Like Stewart, many of the men who made AskMen's Top 49 Most Influential Men of 2010 are the kind of men who don't follow the obvious route to meet their goals, who aren't afraid to break rules or make new ones on their respective paths to greatness. And there was this terrific quote from Conan O'Brien: Before signing off on "The Tonight Show" for good to a future unknown, O'Brien signed off with a request of the audience: "All I ask of you, especially young people ... is one thing: Please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you, amazing things will happen."
Peace, ~Sun~ P.S. I wonder what Yusuf has decided...

JaneB highlighted the new Yusuf facebook post in another thread and it contained this gem about the musical. "Yusuf is at present on his way to US to work further on the development of the Musical." Since he's on his way to the US to work on the musical anyway, maybe he's decided to go to the rally? www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=453995725757

How exciting to think about all of this!

Crow, Tweedy, the Roots to Perform at Stewart RallyExactly what will transpire at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert’s Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear on Saturday has been a closely held secret. But... the Roots will kick off the rally at noon with a 40-minute set... Mavis Staples and Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy [will take]10 minutes to play something, presumably, from their joint LP, You Are Not Alone. At around 2:15, Sheryl Crow will have five minutes in the spotlight. There are more “to be determined” artists on the schedule than names, so expect plenty of surprises. The rally will be streaming live on Comedy Central and its website beginning at noon.-------------- I have a strange feeling that Yusuf will surprise us. What do you guys think? Hey, Richina, are your sleuthers on the case? Any majicatters planning on attending? It would be a shame if Yusuf streams live on Saturday and we miss it... ~Sun~

Sheryl and Yusuf ought to do a "First Cut is the Deepest" duet. If he is on, I hope someone records it and posts on Youtube. I have to volunteer at the JROTC drill meet.

YES!!!!! YUSUF AND OZZY!!!!
I was so sure that I'd miss it. But I just got home from the drill meet, turned it on, and who should show up on the stage but the Man himself! I swear, I yelled so loud my kids came running, and now they think I'm absolutely nuts.
Of course, they already thought I was nuts . . . now I guess they're sure of it.
I hope someone will post it on Youtube 'cause I wanna see it again! Too short.

Jane, Did you record it?
We have to keep watching, because Peace Train's usually at the end...what a great finale it would be!
I can't sit and watch all day - way too busy - it's killing me!
Thanks to all for the heads up!
Peace, ~Sun~

AUGH!!! My two sisters and I were talking about going to this concert, two weeks ago.. We really discussed it.. Even called my other sister up in Alaxandria, Virgina about staying with her... But one thing lead to another, and we decided not to go! WHYYY? Thanks for the wonderful updates and videos.. This is awesome! Could be something good will be coming our way? Nice to see Yusuf on this side of the pond. Ha Ha and Father Quido! How cool. I haven't heard of him in decades.
