Much as I love Yusuf from what Ive seen I wouldnt be travelling to Australia to see the musical - London with the "Fab Five" or even a visit to Jane but Oz - dont think so. Then just come for the company. First the Fab Five take Berlin, then London, then we take Melbourne. Just think of the trouble we could get into - I mean the fun we could have...

Posted on facebook some minutes ago "Ambition: "To write a West End Musical". In 1967 Yusuf (Cat Stevens) dreams of writing a musical. Over forty years later he is making that a reality. Moonshadow is coming in 2012! Here is where you'll find some interesting Cat Stats... majicat.com/articles/catstats.htm" He knows how to tease us And they are talking about his new site, too

Queen.. the musical seems to have cornered the market for that so far together with the Abba musical they fair dominate the stage in the West End at the moment.. so what would be the place for Moonshadow? - well it would need to be up beat to begin with, a real entertainer , it needs to have a narrative, interrupted by real music and songs that catch the imagination ( to go places where the people want to ) and it needs to be relevant to what CS/YI wants to say..and oh a really important thing. Do people want to pay £40 to listen to what Cat /Yusuf has to say to this new mass audience? Oh and as a second thought can he actually communicate it to a wider audience than just the obvious? Filling the Albert hall for a couple of nights is a doddle compared to having a whole ensemble booked and payed for night after night and a huge cast dependent for their living on the strength and reputation of a reinvented ol pop star.

Jakoff - I would easily pay four times that amount to see his musical, as I'm sure plenty of folks would. And he's never had to "reinvent" himself - you underestimate his appeal. How many other artists do you know of, who have completely disappeared from the music world for 20 some odd years, and then managed to fill up music halls for their comeback? I can't really think of anyone else... His musical is going to be awesome!!!! Cannot wait for it to come to NY (please, please!)
G-One, that article you linked to was funny. I can't imagine why he would want his shoe size to look smaller than an 8 1/2. Well - hold on, that's European. Hmmm, gotta see what that converts to. Is he alluding to the fact that he has big feet? ;D

I was just saying that apart from the obvious old audience of stringy hippies and flaky spiritual dreamers are there enough people who would want to see a musical based on..well what ? does the subject make a difference? And does YS have the mass appeal to pull in an audience of say 850-1000 every night to fill a theatre ( without any old songs and without him)? I think not and it would be a huge loss to him personally and to the causes he supports if he loses a million or two.

:)Hi.@mbjackoff...yep you are just saying.....I admire bravery...WOW!lol.... and when people make comments about not commenting...(wiping my eyes!!)...tears of laughter...... ..and when silence speaks volumes...oh my oh my......sorry but it is Friday-giddy night.... (Sir Lorry Load...I hope you OK.....Fri nights not same without you.....) I draw att. to two of your points... ..........''.the obvious old audience of stringy hippies and flaky spiritual dreamers'' (I was only in the minority at the Berlin Concert)......the rest seemed nicely rounded ,youthful and well balanced.... ..........''without any old songs'' I think that there ARE lots of old songs.. OK third point...''and without him''...............words fail me on this one.... thats wiped the smile from my face..!! kind regards...

Whats the old saying Sabina - you can take the Man out of the West End but you cant take the West End out of the Man - in my humble opinion if the Moonshadow Musical ever has a first night it should be where Yusuf has his roots - in London - in the West End.

Yes , I know what you mean and I feel the same..... its too poignant to think on tho....and I just pretend to harden the heart a bit...it kinda helps with the pain!! and helps to maintain the positivity to drive the vision forward.....and thats just me....I guess you know what I mean..

Well the news is .. and well maybe its not news but there is nowhere for the musical to be staged permanently or should i say have a home in. The Olympics have intervened and the outlook is that there will be no West End premier due to the expected fall in audiences. That means at least a year if not two before the show can grace the WE. So that leaves Aus ( I can't see any other country being able to suply the audience) Broadway is out because of expense and anti- Islamic sentiment in general so Sidney or Melbourne is the choice..any preferences ( Which is the closest to byrom Bay)?
