I think there is another session at a cinema in Sheffield on the 18th June, I can't find the link to confirm it, but it was on the boards somewhere. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend going to any UK fans that are able to get there. Seeing the DVD of Porchester Hall on the big screen was great, I spotted all of the members that attended several times ;D ;D I had an urge to applaud after each song, it was almost as if I was at the concert again. Apart from 2 people sitting alongside us who slept through the whole showing, lol The interview with Danny Baker was really interesting, with several humorous comments made. It was relaxed and informal and I just wish I was able to remember everything that was said I was so pleased when Yusuf chose to sing Blackness of the Night, as this has always been one of my favourite songs I was also amazed when we were all just milling around outside at just how many people seemed to remember us from the night of the PH concert. I got Yusuf's autograph again ;D and I had a chat with Val and briefly with Alun, as well as Anita and her husband. Anita said she'd read our reviews on Porchester Hall and she thought they were lovely

I have just realised that the "nice man" who arranged for us to meet Yusuf at Porchester Hall is none other than Marc Marot, Yusuf's manager!!!! It was also him who arrived at the Curzon Premiere with Yusuf's guitar ;D ;D

Hi Suzieq, you must of being sitting just behind me and I was in the front row, middle stage. The last time I saw Yusuf sing was about 1972, then was Cat Stevens, I was 17 years old and had driven to Oxford from London and sat on the doorstep in the snow from 8pm until 10am the next morning to get tickets. Got fron row tickts and a bad cold, but it was worth it. I spoke to him then (offered him a ride back to London) he thanked me for going all that way to see him. The other evening was magical, when he sang Blackness of the night, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. A very nice person gave me the programme from Porchester hall, which I did not know was taking place, I managed to get Yusuf to sign it and get a photo of me with him, I did managed to put an arm round his waist for a moment. Of course it was impulse, did think about a kiss, but as his lovely wife was standing there, I thought not. Your pictures are great and I'm glad that I have now gone on this site.

Too bad I was only 12 in 1972, and too young to take myself to a concert. I did think about running away to see him, though I chickened out. Peace,Vivian

Hello LadyHelen, Welcome to Majicat. You must have been sitting very near to if not next to a guy that was also at Porchester Hall. There was a good shot of him on the Dvd/film, very clear, he was sat behind me at P H but right in front of me at the premier, sorry can't remember his name! It's a good thing you didn't sneak a kiss, Yusuf would not have been best pleased, as his manager told us at P H, there is only one rule, NO KISSING! After the premier and the interview A guy from a couple of rows behind had seen that I was taking pictures and asked me if I could send some to him, so I sent him the link to this page, as a result, he is now a member of Majicat too. he is phantomiasii, he has yet to post, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time! So Welcome to Majicat phantomiasii as well and Don't Be Shy. lol

Was sitting next but one to the guy who was at porchester hall, my brother was next to that guy, he gave me a programme from porchester hall which I got signed from Yusuf. He did point him self out on screen, wish I was there. My children did warn me before I went not to get arrested by kissing Yusuf as they know that I have been a fan since the begining. It was hard as I was a few foot away from him.

Actually ladies, as a fellow Muslim, I can tell you that we generally don't touch members of the opposite sex in public (unless the person is a close family relative) out of respect for each other. So I would suggest that with Br Yusuf... and basically any Muslim of the opposite sex you meet... it would be most appreciated if you would not attempt to do anything more than shake hands. And to only attempt to shake hands if the Muslim offers his hand to you.
To do other than this may cause us to feel quite uncomfortable... I would personally never try to touch Br Yusuf out of respect for him.
Thanks for listening, Kareema

As there was a few fans there pushing, don't think anyone noticed. I do respect the Muslim way, but it's hard as I have been brought up the Greek Cypriot way, where there's lots of hugs and kisses.

Believe me, Helen, I know the feeling. I had to resist temptation on the couple times I met Yusuf. Luckily, I was told ahead of time not to try to hug him, as I probably would have, not knowing the law, and made a fool out of myself. Peace,Vivian

Br Yusuf noticed. And anyone else there that is Muslim. And wouldn't it be our intention as his Amis not to purposely do anything that would make him or his family feel uncomfortable? You wouldn't cook him up a big plate of bacon and expect him to eat it for you since you know we don't eat pork... would you? And this sentiment extends to any other Muslim of the opposite sex you meet at work, etc. And welcome to Majicat, ladyhelen. Thanks for understanding, Kareema

You may remember, after the DVD Premier and interview, in my account of that night, I mentioned... As we were stood there, I noticed the photographer was packing away, so I asked him who he was taking the pictures for, he said a magazine called WORD, or THE WORD. He said it’s a monthly magazine, but he wasn’t sure which month the article would be in, but he did say that it should be on the front page as it would be a big article!Well, here's the article!!! It's called The Word Here's a link to the Magazine www.wordmagazine.co.uk/

Great article, thanks SuzieQ! what does he mean, when he sang 'Morning Has Broken' he needed an attitude? what's that got to do with his dad's voice?? Not sure what Yusuf meant by that Unless, maybe he was referring to his Dad's voice as having a serious tone to it, deep, authoritarian? If his Dad spoke, you jumped! (type of thing)

I was just wondering, are there any other Cat Stevens chat boards out there?
I enjoy reading this one so much that I'd like to find others. I'd really love to find a wonderful female who shares my interests, and I think a board like this may be the way.....

Great photos SuzieQ . I was there on the left hand corner of the front row. It was such a fabulous evening , I assumed cameras would not be allowed , so only managed a couple of photos on my phone . I really wanted to focus on being there and soaking up the loving peaceful atmosphere , I was so excited when I met him and his lovely family . I am so pleased your photos are of such good quality , they captured the spirit of the evening , and bring back fab memories. ;DThank you . Michele
