Thanks, Glaucus for posting those videos. I have watched "Ruins" and "Peace Train" and Yusuf was great. Nice to see the reception he was given by the crowd. Made me smile. Best, Sue

You're welcomed all ! It's a joy sharing these clips. What a great mini-concert. "Ruins" was fabulous and so "à propos"! And Alun back vocals were so good on that song! Oh, as far as the low YouTube ratings go, it's nothing compared to the comments I had to filter out. Have you ever seen a hord of roaches invading some space and then you try and try again to get rid of them but you can't? LOL ! Tonite was like that. And now I know why.... Apparently the very un-biased FOX NEWS ran yet another damaging piece on Gore and Yusuf earlier today, I won't even get into it, you can find it on-line.... In consequence, hundreds of paranoid trolls with an agenda invaded my videos, thus the low ratings. Anyway, it's a question of time before the ratings go up again but if you stop by, please leave a good one to even things out! Believe me, Glaucus, I understand the frustation, I received the same type of troll emails on Majicat form mail last night and today. It all makes sense now, I just read the article about the Hannity and Colmes show. I am so glad my remote control knows how to jump over the Fox Slur News station. Paranoid trolls = American idiots. Actually the segment I saw was not really that bad. That book author is in his "I wear a suit and can't crack a smile" phase. Self righteousness does that. I actually laughed at some of the ridiculous things he said. It was great that at least part of FOX stood up to him. Glaucus, you could disable leaving comments on your youtube videos of Live Earth. Let the music stand for itself. It's pretty common that trolls leave off-the-wall messages on videos, articles, etc having to do with Islam. But they really need to get some new material. Kareema

I SOOO totally missed the whole thing.
I don't know what happened. I started watching LE, then simply walked away at about 11 in the morning and never came back. Went for a walk instead. To save gas.
But no worries. I'll catch up.

Oops, just seen your post Marie I don't know about you, but I thought James Blunt crucified Wild World I watched James Blunt's performance of Wild World at Live Earth just to see what he did with it. He remained true to the original version and the audience sang along. I can't fault him for that. I just don't like his over the top emo style. (I quite enjoy the Weird Al parody of "You're Beautiful" which is titled "You're Pitiful". www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgfpJWUYgbg)Kareema

i thought james blunt version of wild world was awful, that guy cant sing
thanx glaucus for the videos, thanx kareema for the info about the scarf, i always wondering why that scarf, must be so unconfortable to perform with that around his neck
anyway, yep this live earth moment was great - the real cat stevens is finally back on earth, he can still rock and roll - not like the half sleeping boring portchester hall performance - it was terrific to see what power he still have on an audience, he just need to say a word and.... wow
i think it was an unfair thing to send him to hamburg (nothing wrong with germans of course) but he deserved to be in London
anyway, you can see how much he love to be on a stage for a real concert

Absolutely max, if I remember correctly, Yusuf was always a big Stevie Wonder fan. He went to see him in concert in Quebec in 1975. What a nice tribute to Stevie.

Yep, March 12 1975, at the Montreal Forum. Have the old article right here. After telling the audience the great Cat Stevens was there, Stevie invited him on stage during "Superstition". Cat improvised on keyboards, the article says "nothing extraordinary but a very festive atmosphere". It goes on to say: "the presence on stage of the great British singer-songwriter who's recording a new album in Morin Heights (Numbers!) was one more original element to a very special evening". I wish there was some recording of that show!

I reread the post and got my answer in the last line: being no recording that anyone knows of, meaning it just might be hidden in a vault somewhere. Yeah, I know, wishful thinking, LOL Peace,Vivian

lucy13 said: love the passion in his voice again ------------------------------ This is what caught me, too! Hearing that passion come through so clearly was wonderful. Especially in Ruins, which was such a great performance! Throughout the set he had a very energized crowd to draw his own energy from and he really seemed to be in his element. You have to give a lot of credit to the musicians on stage with him...he has made some good choices for his band and they were terrific. They especially seemed to have a lot of fun with Saturn. Even if James Blunt isn't to everyone's taste, I appreciate that he had the class to bring Yusuf's presence to the London stage by performing Wild World for a very appreciative audience. I hope Yusuf's performance at Live Earth will give him the momentum to keep performing...both large and small venues! I can't wait to hear what he does next time. And, thanks glaucus for giving us the clips so quickly. ;D Sainthood may be in order.
