Okay, I'll get the party started... In just a couple of days: Yusuf Islam to deliver keynote speech and perform at the Adopt-A-Minefield Gala in Düsseldorf on 28th May. The Adopt-A-Minefield charity, under the patronage of Sir Paul and Heather Mills McCartney, works internationally to raise awareness and funds to clear landmines and rehabilitate landmine survivors. Yusuf Islam will attend as part of an honorary committee – which also includes Sir George Martin, Sir Richard Branson, Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Klaus Voormann, Christopher Lee and others – and will speak about peace, tolerance and the importance of the Adopt-A-Minefield campaign. I was hoping that someone could fill me in on other Paul McCartney / Cat Stevens connections. :-) readysetgo

No short haired yellow belied son of tricky dickie is gonna mother huboard soft soap me etc... What a great track Working Class Hero!
This concert has to be a first for the former mop top and the Cat. Though their paths must've crossed but it's just Ringo that's worked with Cat. Just?!! I hastily correct myself! Ringo's drumming on Rain is the ultimate!!! If anyone knows of any other Cat/Paul connections do post!
The approaching Adopt-A-Minefield event looks great and for a Beatle to work with Yusuf at the charity event is just great. Though I'm certain they'll sing separately, can you IMAGINE (sorry John!) the pair singing together?! For Yusuf to pick up the guitar again is one thing but a duet with Paulie would be ALL TOO MUCH (God bless Hari Georgeson!)
There's too many people hanging about in the kitchen at this party! Don't be cool, let's get grooving! Rekindle the Majicat flame tonight, today, tomorrow. New boards, a blank canvas at the most exciting time for Cat fans.

I can easily see Yusuf and Sir Paul performing together. I am hoping they do a number together, and here's to hoping that we will have another DVD to wait for.
Peace,Vivian

What a great track Working Class Hero! or, if you please: "I’ve had enough of watching scenes of schizophrenic - egocentric - paranoic - prima-donnas" :-) One of the best lines in a song ever! I have a feeling that Paul and Cat must have crossed paths before... I mean... How could they have avoided each other? I'm surprised that our Cat-scholars have little to offer us (in the way of good hard info)! :-p "Sink in the Can", an album of outtakes (I believe) features Cat with Ringo (Paul is also on the album too, but his tracks were recorded years earlier). While we're on Ringo/Cat, anyone have this LP? Any MP3s around?

I'm confused, George. Ringo drumming on Rain? The Beatles' Rain? What? Am I missing something?
Yes... Sink in the Can is quite a trip. Love the Ringo-Cat connection there.
Me, I'd love to see Ringo in concert. If anyone catches wind of Ringo doing another concert tour, please give me a heads-up. I was in love with Ringo a LONG, LONG time ago..
And yeah.. it'd be cool to hear Cat's and Paul's talents together in one piece of work.

Hi Lucy,
You're not missing anything, it's just me going off on a very broad and irrelevant tangent! Sorry about that. Here's another one, I was in love with Cilla Black back then! (Anyone Who Had A Heart) Great voice! Sad that there's just Paul and Ringo now. The Beatles forever!

George - You must have seen Hari Georgeson at Liverpool ?

Sorry Bamboozle, no such luck. I've only ever seen Paul in concert and I've never ever been to Liverpool. I must go one day and check out the history. I read the news today, oh boy. They are about to demolish the 150 year old terraced house that Ringo was born in. The whole area survived the Luftwaffe and the council is planning to bulldoze these old character properties, presumably to modernise!! They demolished the Cavern Club years ago, then rebuilt it! It's criminal!

It's criminal! George, I stood on the empty lot where The Cavern once stood -- back in 1982 when I visited England. It was a sad site... I mean sight... And yes... it is criminal! Sad about Ringo's house. A friend of mine got to see Ringo's old house in person back in 1979 -- I got to see her photo... I thought it was the most amazing thing she got to see his house! Didn't Cilla Black work with the Beatles once?

Lucy,
I hope the fans protest and I'm sure the Liverpudlian people do not want this.
Cilla! She was on the Merseyside beat scene from the outset. She once worked in the Cavern as a cloakroom attendent. Brian Epstein heard her singing at the club and I think the mop tops were impressed with her voice. Maybe it was the Beatles who encouraged Epstein to sign her, I'm not sure how the story goes. Her first record was Love Of The Loved, a fab Lennon & McCartney number, probably one of Paul's, I might be wrong. Paul wrote Step In Side Love for her and recorded it with her. George Martin, famed Beatles producer, produced much of her early material, her 60s material is well worth a listen.

Does anyone have a copy of the two videos of the Adopt-A-Minefield Gala event as WMV files that can be saved? Please could you email me a copy if you have them? Best to all, Chris

What's Sink in the Can, a bootleg of CS outtakes? Is the Ringo house the one on the cover of Sentimental Journey?

Sink in the Can is a bootleg jam session of Cat and Ringo just clowing around. It's really quite funny to listen. "Looking for a Sailor" is just so classic!

Valley, the year was 1976. The story is that Cat was in the recording studio (Sweet Silence) in Copenhagen, Denmark creating the album 'IZITSO'. Cat had met Ringo in a hotel in Copenhagen and invited him to the studio on September 26, 1976, the story is that the party atmosphere lead to an impromtu Jam session between Ringo and Cats band.
