Hi all...Christine, I thought you might be able to shed some light on this :)... I just aquired a Lady D 45 with a sketch of a woman on it....(it is in your 45 photo section,Island-wip-6086). I was never impressed with this sleeve cover until I got a chance to see it up close-it is a great pen & ink sketch! Do you know if Cat drew it or was it a record co. sketch? Thanks-- MaryBeth

Sorry Mary Beth, I just happened to notice your post.
Isn't it a wonderful picture sleeve and drawing? I haven't figured out if it is a drawing by Cat. I tend to believe that i t is his own drawing since he was using his own sketches for his LP's. And in a way it reminds me of the *Lady in Thought* drawing in the starart book.
I love how the drawing is really of a tree *a Weeping Willow*, which is disquised as a womans facial features amoung the limbs of the tree. I'm not sure if the tree really comes across on the scan on the site. If this is cats drawing which I supect it is, This is one of Cats most interesting piece of artwork. It's a beauty.

Hi Mary Beth & Chris,
I can confirm it is a Cat pen and ink original. Very hard to find these days too with that sleeve. The B-side was wrongly listed as Katmandu, which I guess must've been the first choice which got switched.

Christine, You are right-it is a beauty-I was never interested in this 45 because it looked so uninteresting via scans...was I wrong! A few of his sketches look like they were done with such a quick hand,as this one does...it has alot of movement to it...I do love it. George! I'm glad that you could confirm it is a Cat sketch for us. And I didn't notice but he sleeve does have Katmandu & the actual 'b' side is Time!!...I thought my eBay friend sent me the wrong record!! Thanks for the info-

O.K, maybee I'm nuts or something...but I had a look at this in the photo section here. Yep, it's not a great scan. But it looked like a self-portrait of sorts...not a sketch of a woman. The facial features look like his in abstract. It looks like a man with a lot of hair and a beard crying
What do you think?
Wish I could see the actual picture sleeve...maybe it's more obviously a women.
Really a very interesting and imaginative sketch.
Wish I could do that!!

No, you are not nuts, but you convinced me go back and take another look at the scan on the site. I still come away looking at a womans' face though. But, I can see where you are coming from, the bottom limbs of the tree, could look like a beard. I love the little left hand corner of the drawing , where he delicately placed a cross (grave marker) and some flowers. It's a very well thought out drawing, I would have loved to had seen te original drawing.

Speaking of original drawings of Cat's, I would LOVE to see ANY of them! And if I ever saw one on EBAY, I would GLADLY pay DEARLY! Well, I might end up in divorce court, but we can't win them all, RIGHT!
Peace,Vivian
