A lot of fans champion 'Foreigner' as a much passed over album, and some even prefer his last 3 records, but I often think 'Buddha' isn't mentioned much as a strong collection, although some people do pick certain individual tracks as amongst their favourites.
I know the story behind Cat's idea for the album's title, but having never had a vinyl version of 'Buddha' the 10 illustrations on the CD back cover seem, like 'Teaser' to be part of a little story or parable. Were there ever any captions to accompany these drawings, and, if not, how would you caption them yourself to make sense of the sequence? Maybe if you number each caption you come up with as one to ten . Maybe this should have been a Cat competition, what do you think Christine?

This is a great idea! Many of us have actually discussed the BUDDAH cartoons and what story they may imply when put all together! I can't figure out how this will fit into a competition, though! To my knowledge, there were never any captions to go along with each drawing! It would be a great idea, though! I can prety much figure out MOST of the drawings, but some of them, I have some difficulty; like the one where the spider is playing the flute!

Hello DJ, Your right it is sad that Yusuf never wrote any captions to go along with the Buddha drawings as he had with the Polygon drawings.
As for Competition? What do you mean? Perhaps, I could have people write their own parable. Actually that might be sort of fun, I could so one with the teaser and Polygon cartoons as well.
I am not much of a story teller, but if any you are willing to write stories to go along with any of the cartoons featured on Cat LP's I'm willing to place them up on the site for people to read. It actually might be quite entertaining to read the stories fans think up for the cartoon.
So what do the rest of you think of DJ's Idea?

Chris, It was just a passing thought that it could be a different kind of competition one time for the monthly prize. Instead of just answering the usual one Cat related question, the entrants could E-mail you their list of ideas for the 10 illustrations for you to judge which you thought were the best set of captions. Then post up the winning version, and the best of the rest of the entries after the closing date.
They could be just a simple line or two, but there must be something written for all of the ten drawings. It could even be possibly written as a poem. I know there are some very imaginative Cat fans on this site, and it could be interesting and a bit of a challenge to add a creative element to the monthly competition. I hope that made a bit more sense...

Hey DJ!!
It's a fun and great idea. Let me give it some thought. Creatively, I've been a little dry lately but this might spark something.
Buddha is very high on my favorites list. There's just something so sparkly about it and well-defined. There are times that I probably prefer it to Mona/Tea/Teaser. I was soooo into this album in high school. It caught the mood of those years so well.
O.K....let me try to summon my creative juices.

Great idea! A "caption contest" sounds like fun.

Well, I've never been known for my "creativity", but I will certainly give this my best shot!
