Hey everyone! I'm 22 years old, from Miami FL and I'm SOMEWHAT of a new Cat Stevens fan! Although I have always known about him, I actually started listening to his music about a year ago after seeing the commercials for the Best of CD and I'm HOOKED! He's escalated to being one of my favorites this summer. Wasn't (well ISN'T) he amazing!? His lyrics, his voice-- he's the whole package! I'm so glad he's still such a great person and wasn't alloyed like the typical "rock star." I've been frequenting this site as well as catstevens.com (which won't let me register, grrr!) for the last few weeks and you guys seemed like a great bunch which I hope to become part of! - Lissette PS My favorite Cat songs are Father & Son, Tuesdays Dead, and Here Comes My Baby (hey, he sounds dreamy in that one!

And as for the messages baords, well, in the words or our beloved Cat, "Don't be shy..."

Welcome to Majicat,
I agree with Jancat, it's great to hear that there are young Cat fans out there, and his music still has the magic to capture the imagination and touch the hearts of a new generation.
You've discovered a great site here, Lissette, and everyone is very friendly.
All the best, DJ

Welcome to the site Lissette,
One nice thing we can say about Cats music (amoung many others) is that Cats music is ageless.
I checked out your website Lissette( which is really nice), your drawings are wonderful!!

Wow, I didn't expect so many responses so quickly! Jancat- I've read a bunch of the articles here and at CatStevens.com and they're awesome! He's brilliant and speaks very eloquently! Oh, but I also love the one about him designing women's clothes! That quote on the end is PRICELESS! I was like, "That's me! That's me!" DJ- Yup yup yup, his music is way better than any current singer out there! Christine- I'm glad you liked my website and thanks for the kind words about my drawings! I'm always changing the layouts around so I was thinking of doing a Cat layout. - Lissette

Hi Lissette, Welcome to the addiction of loving the Catman. He is totally awesome. I have been a fan for 31 years. Once he grabs your heart there is no turning back.
I like your username 'SuperTrouper'. I have an album by ABBA that uses that name and it is a fabulous song. Is that where you got your name?
Well, it is always nice to meet a new fan of Cat. Enjoy the ride on the "Peace Train".
Love, A'isha

I really do wonder sometimes if Yusuf is still interested in giving any more lectures in the U.S., or if he feels that he's covered enough ground with the lecture format. It seems the talk he had been giving was essentially the material covered in the boxset...maybe he feels that message is sufficiently 'out there' now. What do you guys think?? But there's nothing like personal interaction, that's for sure. So maybe when the opportunity is right he'll be back. I sure hope so. I really wish I had known about his earlier lectures...I think he spoke at some colleges in NY a few years ago

Hello Jen, Sometimes I get the exact same feeling. It feels as though he may have decided to keep a low profile for a while. I would have loved to had been able to attend one of the earlier lectures, if only one of them would have been a bit closer to my neck of the woods.

I am sure that Yusuf has decided, for safety reasons, to keep a low profile for a while! It is really a shame that it has to be that way, but As long as Yusuf is safe, that's all I care about!

What safety reasons, Vivian?

Sue, since 9-11 many prominent Muslims are keeping low profiles. Most of them are often threatened because of all of the anger in the world right now. Yusuf is fine but just pulling back some. I would also think that with Afghanistan Yusuf is probably very busy. He has always been busy trying to help them.

A'isha is right! I think yusuf has just pulled back and is keeping a low profile for a while! Many Muslims are still being targeted in hate crimes! It really is a crying shame that some people will blame a whole religion because of a hand full of sick fanatics, and it takes away from Yusuf's IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE work!
Peace,Vivian

Vivian, it is sad that many people tend to judge an entire group for the actions of others, but I understand it some. Yes, I am a Muslim, but 9-11 upset me alot, almost to the point of leaving my religion. But I can't blame my religion either. But I learned to understand. When something like 9-11 happens people don't understand why it happens. It is just that in the confusion people feel they want to lash out. And because the murderers were from a particular group people lashed out at that particular group. I am not saying that this behavior is right, but it is a very human reaction. I just hope that, soon, the hatred will subside (it doesn't help anyway), and people like Yusuf Islam can openly share themselves with the world. The world needs people like Yusuf.
Love, A'isha

I hadn't really thought of those aspects, A'iasha and Vivian. Yes, perhaps the time just isn't right. Now, as far as safety goes...I'm sure we could protect him

Now, as far as safety goes...I'm sure we could protect him YOU'VE GOT THAT RIGHT. I WOULD HATE TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO SOMEONE WHO TRIED TO HURT OUR YUSUF WITH US AROUND.... The though is rather grotesque.....let's not go there. LOLOLOLOLOL Love and Peace (Peace? after talking about grotesque defense) , A'isha
