I think I'd make the drive...that's the kind of place where he signs all kinds of things and is very open to the public! (you know, meet and greet)! Could be very special! If it was me...I'd be driving or flying!! But that's just me!

Cool, wish I could be there! How bout you, Glaucus?? Are you anywhere near there?? A very timely notification, Richina... ... now only if I lived a bit closer to Toronto. The main reason to hesitate making the trek northward is the time of the year, weather-wise. We just experienced a doozey of a winter blizzard in these parts, and so the season makes one leery (or _really_ leery might be a better way to say it*) of considering such a trip. In the meantime, I'm hoping against hope that Yusuf plays New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania in the near future. -Bud *You folks surely remember 'Really Leery', don't you? He was Dr. Timothy "Leery's" older brother (thanks to the late George Carlin for that one!)

Unfortunately, Calgary is quite a distance from Toronto. Wishing that in the near future he will tour Canada. I would fly to Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver to see him if the opportunity was there, especially Montreal since I was born and grew up there, and I still have family living there. Calgary of course would be really nice.

Richina - it's too bad we don't live closer. We could go together, go to a few lectures, do some shopping at the bazaar, have a little lunch, some tea, some stalking, I mean looking for Yusuf...

The website calls him "Dr. Yusuf Islam"
Did he get a doctorate or an honorary degree?
And I thought I knew all there was to know about him!

Thanks for the link Mike That was quite a least of comments that followed the article. It seems there are still alot of insecure, misinformed people out there. Just thinking, Yusuf might take time in between talks, to check out some of the venues there where he might perform in the near future. You never know. Happy holidays to you too.

Wow, great find Suzie. He looks very calm and happy. If I were going to make a speech especially about a topic as Islam, I will be really nervous. have a good night.
Peace,
Catchem.

From examiner.com "The evening just kept building with one of the most anticipated speeches of the evening, that of Dr. Yusuf Islam formerly known as Cat Stevens who spoke on "On this Boat Called Near and Far." The title of his speech is also the title of his new album. Dr. Yusuf Islam spoke of his life journey of discovery. How he discovered his relationship with God and ultimately Islam. He sang a few lyrics of some of his old and some of his new music. It was so touching and memorable to this Examiner that it brought tears to my eyes. Most can remember one of Yusuf Islam's songs touching their lives in one way or another. For this Examiner, his journey reminded me much of my own" tinyurl.com/ylhk852

Yes that is a good shot Helen. I wonder if the lucky person getting the autograph from Yusuf is a member here? I guess if he was, we would have heard by now. Well anyway, wish I was is in his place.

Boy, that YUSUF/CAT fan sure was greedy, or maybe he was having all those LP's, CD's signed for his friends who couldn't be there.

I told y'all....that's the kind of place to be for "meet and greets" on a whole nuther level. Wish it could have been me. I'm not Muslim, but I would still find his speeches very inspiring (especially if he sang). I have an appreciation for him not only as a musician, but as a kind, peaceful man with strong convictions, who is not afraid to voice his feelings. I am impressed with the way he totally took this religion to heart, learning all he could and even speaking, and writing, Arabic. He has wrapped a lot of living into 61 years and would be fascinating to hear! My little 2 cents, Richina PS Yeah, I saw all those albums that guy had....lucky dog!

Yeah, I saw all those albums that guy had....lucky dog! I agree, Richina! One wonders why he failed to bring along the proverbial "kitchen sink" to be autographed. There was actually a report, however, that stated he fully intended to, until he discovered that he simply couldn't undue the plumbing... ... although an eyewitness at the conference swore he saw him clutching a copy of "Sink In The Can". I guess he figured if he couldn't bring his "kitchen sink", why not bring his "Sink In The..." ... ... well, I'll spare you all the conclusion of yet another terrible pun... ;D -Bud

First of all, this is really terrific detective work on your part, Richina, and your points are well taken! Wow, the mercenary-fueled selfishness and utter nerve of this guy (and I certainly wouldn't consider him to be a true Yusuf fan, that's for sure), in spoiling it for all true devotees... well, it boggles the mind. And here I thought I was just joshin' about how low one might stoop in taking advantage of Yusuf's generosity. Hmmm... wonder if that other fellow might pop up on ebay as well? Again, thanks for the great head's-up, Richina! -Bud

This is exactly why I shouldn't check in here during the day (aside from being distracted from my work...) I mean, the guy has a right to do this, but it KILLS ME to see the smile on Yusuf's face at having a "fan" want his autograph only to have the bum turn around and do this. Ugh...

And what's even worse...the photo of him signing the "Catch Bull" album sleeve, is a picture of him with the "Cat's Cradle" album cover! That guy couldn't hit a "bull in the butt with a bass fiddle"! Something tells me that he's not much of a fan...I'm with you Jane, UGH!

Oh, he can't be a fan, Richina. I mean, even though I had to pass my program to Yusuf via the very burly and not-too-friendly security guard, there is NO WAY I would ever part with that autograph! This is a business for this guy, and I just don't like it.

I don't think he is the same guy. I could be wrong, but the guy in the photo that Helen and Sue posted is wearing glasses, and the other one on ebay selling, does not. Maybe this company aquiring autographs had more than one imposter collecting Yusufs autograph. I hope this does not make Yusuf think twice about signing his autograph again. What a terrible thought, but then again he is too generous not to. He should take some advice next time. Jane I forgot to say, I really love your red and green avatar. What a great poster that would make. I can see it hanging on my wall. The art technique is fabulous, and it could be considered a master piece. Don't forget to sign it next time. ;D
