Yusuf to Play at Roundhouse Tomorrow evening Yusuf will be at the Roundhouse to participate in a special fundraising event being hosted by the Naked Heart Foundation.
Naked Heart build play parks for children in some of the most deprived cities and urban centres in Russia. To date over 39 parks have been built, and the charity is aiming to add many more across both Russia and the UK. Following a special request from the charity’s founder, Natalia Vodianova, Yusuf has agreed to perform his classic hit “Where Do The Children Play?”, a song which she has cited as a source of inspiration for her philanthropic work.

Many thanks, Christine, for this news!
As you may be able to gather by my Majicat screen name and signature, the song "Where Do The Children Play?" has always held a very special place in my heart.
I am not at all surprised to learn that the song continues to be a source of inspiration, and I am cheered to hear that Yusuf shall perform it at this very special event.

Thanks, Christine! I have to believe that this the kind of thing that means something to Yusuf, and not an arbitrary induction into some hall of fame. He has his own hall of fame right here on Majicat.

Thought I would share this with you. On Monday we were driving back from the West End and drove past the Roundhouse. My husband started talking about the Roundhouse and was saying that concerts still take place there. When I was young I use to go the Roundhouse every Sunday, it did not matter who was playing. Anyway then 5 minuets later I receive a email to say that Yusuf will be at the Roundhouse. Freaky. Also the night before I was watching my recording of "The wind" then Meg (rubylove) sent me an email saying that she is watching the recording of "The wind" on u tube. Again Freaky

Model's charity ball raises £1.2 million to build children's play parks - Link to London Evening Standard Terry Kirby 24.02.10 There was an outburst of “blinging in the rain” when guests at the charity Love Ball London were forced into the cold and wet last night when dry ice set off fire alarms at the Roundhouse in Camden. Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, Tracey Emin, film producer Harvey Weinstein, designer Anya Hindmarch and Jade Jagger were among dozens of guests who spent nearly half an hour in the freezing car park before the fire brigade gave the all-clear. Many of the men removed their dinner jackets to warm the shoulders of their shivering companions. But the rest of the evening, organised by Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova and Lucy Yeomans, editor of Harper's Bazaar, was a success and raised £1.2 million for Vodianova's Naked Heart Foundation, which builds children's play parks in deprived areas of Russia. For the first time the charity will be funding parks in the UK with plans for play areas in deprived parts of London, Liverpool and Glasgow. Others guests included fashion photographer Mario Testino, Bryan Ferry, Sir Peter Blake, Joely Richardson, Mary and Stella McCartney and model Liberty Ross. Artist Dinos Chapman was the Love Ball's creative director while all guests received Baboushka dolls designed by Blake. The ball's auction saw Blake's silkscreen print I Love You top the bidding at £160,000, while the £135,000 fetched for Chapman's work prompted Emin to declare: “That's an absolute bargain.” Emin also auctioned her work along with artists Mark Quinn and Jeff Koons. The highlight of the sale was a pink and white diamond necklace, designed by Vodianova and made by diamond experts De Beers, which sold for £180,000 to PR executive Matthew Freud, accompanied by his wife Elisabeth Murdoch. The guests were entertained by singers Yusuf Islam, Leona Lewis, Sharleen Spiteri and Paloma Faith.

Thanks Sue, and Peritura for the pics. I spent the afternoon trying to find some pics of Yusuf at the Roundhouse with no luck. As always we can rely on you. Must have been a bit of a scare for everyone. Yusuf very protective holding tight Fauzias hand as always. Nice to see Yusuf in blue denim again, shirt hanging out, very cool. Hope we get to see a video of his performance. The link to 'Rex Features' was fantastic. What a great collection of photos. Browsing the pages, I came upon some photos of Yusuf that I hadn't seen before. Looks like I'll be up all night. ;D

Ok I know this isn't the same Roundhouse performance as discussed above. But... this is purely amazing, this is from the 2007 Roundhouse concert in tribute to Jim Capaldi

someday.... I am glad to know that you Marie, and Joanne were able to see this wonderful song being sung live. Yusuf has such a jazzy sounding voice, he can sing just about anything beautifully.
