Dear friends, next weeks it's one year ago that we've met in London to see this amazing concert and had a really good time together As I'll be on holiday and offline for two weeks, I'd like to open this threat to celebrate and share memories of this great event. Today I've found the first palladia video of Baaba Maal and U2 Yusufs performance will follow soon I'm sure This is my artwork in memoriam: Happy majicats and the peace van Do you remember?

Thankyou for the memories Gabi!!!!! How could we forget!!!!! Looking at your amazing artwork makes my heart flutter with joy. It is a reminder that it actually did happen, and I was part of that great event. It was the begining of a new, long awaited journey, not only Yusufs, but all that support, and follow him. His family, band, and of course his dedicated fans, old and new. Thankyou once again Gabi, it was a great idea for you to start this thread, and I'm sure there will be many posts to follow. You will have many posts to read when you get back from your holiday. Wshing you a lovely, and safe holiday. Looking forward to seeing you back......Vicki.

Gabi - I LOVE your collage! I am going to steal it and put it up at my desk here at work. I'm glad I am not the only one planning on celebrating the anniversary. Perhaps I will bring a cake to work and make everyone here celebrate, too. They will think I am crazy, but that's nothing new... I have said it before and I will say it again a thousand times over. That day, and the days that followed are among the most special of my life, and the event deserves to be celebrated.

Yes it was wonderful time in London last may.Short but intensive.Lot of friendship, fantastic show, nice dinner and pleasant shopping. I hope that all of this will repeat once again somewhere else soon.I hope in Germany.I think Yusuf should have a tour in Germany because of so many fans he have there. Australia and New Zealand are unfortunately to far away. Attachments:

I have never before celebrated the anniversary of a concert or anything like it, but this one really was special, wasn't it? I agree - Australia and New Zealand are too far, but I would welcome the opportunity to go to Germany! If Yusuf is there, so am I! Jane

Well now you got me going. Some of my favorite pictures - these are from the day of the concert: Meeting new friends Good times and great memories while waiting for the doors to open: Yoriyos signing CDs for me and Regii: And Yusuf waving and saying "see you all later" More to come...

For her this night was even more special than for us - you know the name? I'll post a large scale version in my album You're all free to "steal" it BTW - guess which picture is on my Yusuf calendar in my living room this month? Look at this happy face - he will remember this special moment, too... Yes, Germany would be a good place for the next concerts - AOC was No. 2 in german charts and you want to learn some german words, Jane

I was just thinking of that brilliant event today - my, it was only one year ago today when my Mum and I were at the Shepherd's Bush Empire. Seems like yesterday when we all met up with each other on that day. That concert was an event that will remain timeless and memorable. Yusuf has the voice that we'll never hear again, but we'll always remember his old Cat Stevens style that he once was in those early days in the 1970s

Wow, time does fly, doesn't it? What a great experience! And not just the concert (although it was aces!). Mark and I had such a wonderful time with everyone, and thoroughly enjoyed London - now if only we could make it to Oz. -Joanne

If memory serves me correctly, I think at this moment many of us were meeting each other for the first time at the Coffee House, and I finally got to meet SuzieQ!
Much love to everyone who made that such a special day and time. We are all very fortunate to have experienced that.
I could talk about that day forever...

Thanks for the wonderful collage and vid, Hurt! Enjoyed them. So wow. It's been a YEAR. Incredible. What a wonderful and magical night; meeting so many of you and Alun Davies as well. My only regret was the non-stop (total, about 7 hours) standing. I think it served to screw up my back later in the year... It's only NOW finally getting back to normal. Never again!! AND .... EARplugs next time. Taking on Baaba Maal's drumming full-on was .. murderous. I'll be kinder to myself next time!! (I remember almost bringing earplugs but saying to myself at the last minute, "naaahh..." (why, I have no idea) ANYWAY........ Does ANYONE know whatever happened (IF anything ever happened) with the official pics taken by Island Records of the event -- when they came around and shot pics of us waiting in line. Have these photos surfaced anywhere?? We were supposed to be able to log in with our special code to see the pics. Never saw anything last summer, then I forgot to check later. Just curious!

So, if you're a lover of african music, put on your headphone and listen to this liveweb.arte.tv/de/video/Youssou_N_Dour__Reggae_Meets_Mbalax_from_Senegal/It's the new album where Yusuf was co-writing... Woud have loved to see the official pictures - but didn't find anything too. Gabi - back on board
