As Chris posted yesterday, the various off-topic boards and threads will remain up for awhile until everything transitions to the new site. This will give people an opportunity to save (to their own computers) any content they wish to keep. In the meantime, in order to move forward to a site exclusively about Yusuf, the off-topic threads will be locked. Please take this time to save anything you don’t want to lose.

Hi all,
I was just pm'd by aurarisma asking if the Random Threads were now locked. As Jane just said, indeed they are. Sorry, but we had to start sometime! Might as well start now. You can still peruse those boards for a while and in fact, we would be most grateful if, should you find anything Cat or Yusuf related there such as a YouTube video or reference to an article, please could you let us know and we'll move it onto the main board for posterity. Thank you!
Also, could you, just out of interest, let us know how you use the boards? Do you simply look at Last25 posts or do you search through all the boards to see what is new? This is of interest when it comes to best designing the format for the new boards and it's something Jane and I have discussed.
Many thanks to all of you for your help. Our aim for Majicat is to eventually produce a website that the whole Cat/Yusuf community can identify with and feel very much a part of. As Christine had hoped, we'd like the messageboard to serve the website, not the other way around. If we can achieve that then we hope it'll be something that Christine can also feel very proud of when she visits it. We'll need you to help us out to keep it vibrant and alive.
All the very best and many thanks on behalf of us all for your very kind words of encouragement and support. They mean a lot both to us and also to Christine without whom none of this would have been possible!
Chris

I saw that G-One was able to respond to the new member, Justin, on "Introduce Yourself" but I can't see a reply "button" on my screen. Are we locked out from that, or am I missing something? Gabi (G-One) was able to respond because she is a moderator. We are all new to the admin functions of moderating a message board, and I was surprised to even see a new thread posted on that board. We're trying to figure this out. I'm certainly open to a thread in which people can introduce themselves. What we are trying to avoid, however, is a long series of "welcome" replies that would then take up most/all of the last 25 posts. There is a great deal of feedback that many people who come on and look at the last 25 posts are, quite frankly, turned off when all they see are posts not related to Yusuf in any way. Obviously, we don't want to turn off people - current or prospective member - who want to come on and talk about Yusuf. As I said, we are trying to figure it all out and all we can do is ask that you be patient as we do so. Jane

That makes a lot of sense. I wasn't real sure why you guys wanted to curtail the random chit-chat, but that explains it.

What we are trying to avoid, however, is a long series of "welcome" replies that would then take up most/all of the last 25 posts.... Jane When the "Terms Of Use" is re-written, perhaps you could include a paragraph asking site users to refrain from publishing messages which consist mostly of a personal greeting, a thank you, a "happy birthday," "congratulations," or other remarks specifically directed to a particular member, that could be communicated effectively through a PM.
