I know many of you are upset with my decision, but it was meant fully to be fair to everyone concerned. I do not want Majicat to become another battle field, as I have seen on other sites concerning talk of religion, and it would have.
I deleted two threads, I'm sure you know which ones they were. They were deleted because that is not what I want Majicat to represent. Actually 47 your thread was deleted by accident, I initially was going to post this letter there.
I had no problem with a little religious talk when it is in reflection to Yusufs music or life. But when some threads were becoming a classroom, it starts taking over the board. I've learned to appreciate Islam, read the Quaran and read up on the religion itself because of Yusuf. For bringing me to understand Islam a little better, I thank Yusuf. But, we need to remember this is a music fan website, simple.
Sadly where religion is involved, people tend to lose control. I've worked to hard on this site, to let it become ugly.

Dear Christine,
I know that I am not alone when I say that I appreciate and truly am thankful for all that you have done here. You are and always have been fair and kind, this site has always been well balanced and peaceful.
I am behind you 100% percent in your decision. There are many ways and means to start religious sites should one feel the need to discuss religion, it doesn't have to be here.
I thank you for your fair hand here, Christine. My thanks to you and the moderators for keeping this site informative, fun and peaceful.
Sincerely, Salsabil

Very well explained, Christine (i.e., classroom devolving into a battlefield). But I trust we can still feel at liberty to mention Yusuf's faith in passing (as you say) when discussing his life and music. It's the essence of the artist and his music. Many of the fans enjoy this and handle it appropriately.
I commend you for your professional, fair and noble handling of this site over the years. It wouldn't be where it is today without those qualities.

I stand by Christine 100 percent. Peace,Vivian

Just echoing everyone's thought here so far, Christine. It takes a lot of maturity and wisdom to run a message board, and you've got it. Being new, I didn't know what I was walking into. I have attempted to handle myself with decorum without letting the drama affect my thoughts and words, and not allowing distorted words to go unanswered. I hope that I have done that here.
Now that the storm has blown over, I intend to keep being a positive presence on this board, paying attention to mundane issues such as random thoughts, food, pets, family, friends, jewelry, dancing, gardening, photos, whatever is involved in everyday life. These things are important to us, just as Yusuf's music and lyrics are important to us. This thing called life is wonderful even with all its challenges! Thanks for being here for us. And I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving.

some people are just into drama or they make it seem that way.... That's just not true. I have been very happy since I woke up from my coma only to discover that you are the father of the unborn child I have been carrying 20 years . Christine of course your decisions have always been fair & remain fair

Agreed, we shouldn't shy from mentioning faith where appropriate, and in a sensitive way. But we must not give any room for intimidation or proselytization.

Good job, Chris! It's not religious discussion itself that causes the problem, but when people can't resist being nasty and hateful to those who don't hold the same beliefs, well... it just doesn't work.

No one was asking for a religious battlefield. Just a little leeway so we don't have to walk on eggshells if someone decides to mention "Musl(Censored)" or "Chri(Censored)" or "All(Censored)" / "Go(Censored)" decide to talk about the "I" word It's your Extremely, very, wonderful, horribly, very, very, very, very yellow forum. Do as you like. 47

I respect your Dicision Christine I am sorry for what happen here, because they are many enemy for Islam and many spy who look for not understanding our religion . but they are too lot of fun for yusuf Islam
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe. God hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur). Of the people there are some who say: "We believe in God and the Last Day;" but they do not (really) believe Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves, and realise (it) not! Please, Majicat is just not the right forum. Everyone is entitled to their values and beliefs. People do not respect each others point of view, whenever religion is discussed, so please accept the boundaries as stated. Posts will be deleted and more radical measures taken if members cannot abide by the decision.

By all means discuss privately 47 and Berber but so as not to offend others:
All discussions pertaining to religion should be kept within your own pm and/or email, so no one is offended.

The decision is fair to everyone, not a personal attack on anyone, simple as that.

There are people from many faiths and cultures that use this site. That's something that we want to celebrate, not fall out over. So with regret, discussion on religion is taboo because of hateful comments that have been made.
