Hello, Thank you all for your nices messages. Did you see the article on saphirnews ? It's strange.... Have a great day... Christiane Here is the article translated The British singer Yusuf Islam, has the intention to go to the United States in December to record a new album. One of the new pieces will be devoted to his expulsion of the United States, three years ago. The converted artist to the Islam in 1978, see itself to forbid in September 2004 the entry on the American ground "for reasons of security". The airplane in which it traveled in company of his girl then was disconcerted towards an airport of the Maine, where both of them were constrained to land. Apparently washed of all suspicions, Islam, 59 years old, was able to return two years later to the United States for the promotion of" Another Cup", the album of his return, after 28 years of absence. It works today to a new opus of which an entitled piece "Jodhpurs and Sand" (I think they mean - Boots and Sand) will be devoted to what it names his "small excursion". The recording is foreseen next month to Nashville. "I hope to go over there to curl this buckle in December", it entrusted. Several faces of the musqiue country, of which Dolly Parton, will contribute probably to the album. Saturday October 20 2007

Hello Christiane, Welcome to Majicat! I am still waiting to hear news of that one myself, there has been nothing in the news of Yusuf's activities lately, we are all anxious to hear what he has been up to! Although I expect the musical Moonshadow is still keeping him busy.

I have found some funny news. Did you know, that Yusuf drives a German car. In this report is described, that he bought a German Mercedes Benz to have more room for his family!!! The article is from 2006!!! Yusuf has bought a new carThanks, Anette! I did hear something about this in one of Yusuf's interviews. Mercedes Benz's are fairly common in the US, since they're such great cars. But now I'm wondering - is it unusual for someone in London to drive one? Also, do German cars have a steering wheel on the right or the left side? ~Sun~ It's not unusual for us Brit's to drive a Merc, as long as you have the money that is. They make them in left and right hand drive. When we saw Yusuf at the DVD premier of Yusuf's Cafe, in London, the car that picked up Yusuf and most of his family was a Merc, I am wondering now, if it could have been his own car? He wasn't driving though. So maybe not

I thought it time we had a news thread on the Yusuf forum... Just A Minute With: Yusuf Islam By Dean Goodman LOS ANGELES (Reuters Life!) - British folk singer Yusuf Islam is tentatively returning to show business, almost three decades after converting to Islam and retiring from the business to focus on his religion, family and charity work. Late last year the artist, formerly known as Cat Stevens, released his first mainstream pop album since 1978, "Another Cup," and in March played his first full British concert in 28 years at Porchester Hall in London. Among the 250 people present were his wife, daughter and granddaughter, as well as old friends from around the world. The concert was broadcast by the BBC, and has been released on a DVD package, "Yusuf's Cafe Session," which also boasts a BBC documentary and various music clips: Q: Was it nerve-racking returning to the stage for a full-length concert after such a long absence? A: "I made it as comfortable as possible so I wasn't as nervous as when I do, for instance, the large gigs with 40,000 people, because this was only 250 people -- many of them were invited by us! I made it as homely as possible. In that regard I kinda recreated my own cafe, which brings me right back to Shaftesbury Ave., where I began my life anyway." Q: Was the audience instructed not to cheer once the songs started? They seemed very placid. A: "I think that there tends to be a response to me sometimes that almost verges on the reverent, y'know! They may be expecting a halo to pop up or something like that. There's just that kind of respect I think they had for me. It's always a great and infectious, warm reception that I receive." Q: Any post-show adrenaline rush to rekindle memories? A: "This time I had a family to go home to! It was completely different from the old days where I'd have a lonely hotel room somewhere and a mirror to look at, and that was it. Now I've got a great family and a great support from my family, and meeting my old friends. Some of them traveled all the way from L.A. to come and see it." Q: You look good on the DVD. Do you work out or have dietary strictures that keep you so well preserved at 59? A: "I look after myself. I try not to over-eat. I don't do that much exercise. But it's my constitution, I suppose, slightly nervous, so I don't necessarily get too heavy or too overweight. But it's nothing special I do." Q: What's your biggest indulgence? A: "Let me think about this ... tea. I have to say tea, because I love tea and I love to drink it." Q: Do you get out to concerts? Will you go and see the Led Zeppelin or Sex Pistol reunion shows? A: "I saw Roger Waters, his last tour. And that was great, I really enjoyed it. He's an expert. He's a perfectionist, sound and visual. I loved it. I recently also went to a Steven Seagal concert because I thought it was so unique to have this guy -- a brilliant actor but also quite a developed Zen Buddhist -- playing blues guitar." Q: Have you thought about writing your memoirs? A: "I've pondered it, and in a way I've done bits and pieces throughout the years, through my talks, through my interviews -- not all of which have been conveyed 100 percent in their accuracy! And my songs. The job of writing the book is something I tend to put off, but I'm being chased."

No, It's still there for me dilate.choonz.com/I just heard, and fell in love with this today after hearing it on a Mark E mix that he did recently for the consistently quality smorgasbord of DJ delicacies that is Beats in Space. It’s not so much the first half of this track, pleasant as it may be, that does the biz, but rather, once you get past the flesh and bones of the Yusuf Islam cover, the singer (Patti?) starts to pose rhetorical questions as to how one would feel without certain appendages.. and it really gets going into a beautifully arranged piece of gutsy, gospel soul, with every member of the band getting their moment of glory. If you really can’t be patient, skip straight to about 4 mins 30 seconds. EDIT: The version on the Mark E is actually one of his unreleased edits.. don’t know if that one will eventually see the light or not… Here's the shortcut to the download Download MP3 (9:23min / 17MB)

Here's the translation For the first time for almost 30 years Cat Stevens has given its hits again in Germany live to the best. Singer who names himself today Yusuf Islam converted traveled that to the Islam, with his wife and its three daughters after Neuss. To the highpoint of the formal event, it stepped at the early Sunday morning jointly with McCartney up and enthused the guests with the Beatles-hits "all You Need Is Love" and "Let it be".

WOW!!! that was wonderful! For those who haven't seen it, they will be highlights shown on MSN from tomorrow. * Link to MSN Video * Yusuf played: Where do the children play? Midday RUINS!!! Wild World (and Yusuf sang Baby Baby!!!)Then he sang a Stevie Wonder song - SaturnThen there was an encore of Peace TrainSuch an extra special treat to see Yusuf singing Ruins again, and A new song for him Saturn. Here are the lyrics "Saturn" Packing my bags-going away To a place where the air is clean On saturn There's no sense to sit and watch the people die We don't fight our wars the way you do We put back all the things we use On Saturn There's no sense to keep on doing such crimes There's no principles in what you say No direction in the things you do For your world is soon to come to a close Through the ages all great men have taught Truth and happiness just can't be bought-or sold Tell me why are you people so cold I'm...... Going back to Saturn where the rings all glow Rainbow, moonbeams and orange snow On Saturn People live to be two hundred and five Going back to saturn where the people smile Don't need cars cause we've learn to fly On Saturn Just to live to us is our natural high We have come here many times before To find your strategy to peace is war Killing helpless men, women and children That don't even know what they are dying for We can't trust you when you take a stand With a cold expression on your face Saying give us what we want or we'll destroy I'm...... Going back to Saturn where the rings all glow Rainbow, moonbeams and orange snow On Saturn People live to be two hundred and five Going back to saturn where the people smile Don't need cars cause we've learn to fly On Saturn Just to live to us is our natural high

I doubt very much that even then it was Yusuf!!! I imagine he is either being kept busy with the Moonshadow musical, or he could be in the sun, on holiday!!! I know where I would rather be! I want to know how the community center is coming on? I can't wait for the announcement of the opening!!! "The building will feature exhibitions of Islamic arts, crafts and drama, serve Middle Eastern food and drink, and possibly host a gig by Islam and his friends, O’Hara added. It is due to open next summer."[/b] Link to announcement [22 june 2007]

Hello LadyHelen and Welcome to Majicat Thank you so much for your detailed account of your day, it is like almost being there with you I am not surprised that Yusuf seemed a little taken aback at the amount of people there, as we know, Yusuf would prefer to do more intimate venues, but it will have given him a taste of things to come on Saturday's Live Earth Concert in Hamburg. Challenge Future Concert in Bochum. Germany (Photos to come. Please could someone let me know how to upload photos-thanks!) See your PM's SuzieQ
