And each song brings back pleasant memories in my life. Some even remind me of sad times, but all of his songs are comforting for I know that he feels the same emotions as I do but expresses them in such a beautiful way. Whenever I feel like I am alone on this planet, like no one understands, I can listen to Cat and realize that other people feel the same things as I do because Cat expresses it in the songs.

Speaking for myself, the three qualities in his songs which make them stand out from his peers in the sixties and seventies are: his unique shifts in rhythm and tempo(since he emerged from a musical background STEEPED in GREEK music); his delicate, deft vocal nuances(this man possessed TREMENDOUS vocal control) and his diversified musical influences/genres(everything from show tunes to folk music). ADD to this his real TALENT for sheer POETRY in his lyrics, and he truly was a STANDOUT ARTIST(TIMELESS)!  :-*Shirley |

And NOONE ON EARTH could sing with SUCH HEARTBREAKING emotion one minute inHOW CAN I TELL YOU, and SHEER JOY the next in RUBYLOVE. Cat was DEFINATELY the MOST ROMANTIC SINGER EVER!

Good question, Vivian. But a hard one to answer, so very many reasons. Tea for the Tillerman is my favorite album/cd of all time. Each song touches me in different ways, ways that are much different now at 46 than when I first heard it over 31 years ago. Timeless, priceless - words that only come close to describing it.
