Well some time ago, I asked about getting a CD or video or ANYTHING on Alpha Omega, and never got a response, so I don't know! I sure would love to have a copy, though!

Meg, You'll find some short sound files which will give you a flavour of 'Alpha-Omega' at this link ... www.peacechild.net/Alpha_Omega_Revelations/Alpha_Omega_Music/alpha_omega_music.htmlThis is David's own website with some more details about this interesting project. Although David did co-write 'Child for a day' (with Paul Travis), Cat does not sing on David's album, as Cat did his own version on the 'Izitso' album. Here's another link to the same site with a little information about David ...http://www.peacechild.net/David_Gordon/david_gordon.html You might also be interested in the lovely story David's 'Peace child' charity was inspired by...http://www.peacechild.net/Peace_Child_International/The_Peace_Book/the_peace_book.html DJ

I was just listening to Izitso whilst taking down the Xmas tree. I've had the CD for a short time, but never really listened to it. I was familiar with Old School Yard and Child for a Day. I bought the CD for the later which is a from Peace Child as above.
Izitso kind of made me laugh. it's such a wild combination of pop, rock, jazz and country western with a slight disco influence. I guess it is a product of it's time. This is not a criticism. There are some good sounds in there.
Has anyone listened to the Child for a Day version fro Pease Child on the David Gordon Site? Wow what a contrast!

I've checked out David's site on many occasions, but never noticed those sound files! I had better check them out when I get home later! Well, that is if my real player cooperates! I can bet it sounds great! Now, speaking of CHILD FOR A DAY, who has seen Cat's final performance of this at the YEAR OF THE CHILD concert, when David Essix came on and helped Cat/Yusuf finish that song! WOW!!! WHAT A TEAR JERKER!!! Of course, heres to hoping that some day there will be an official release of Alpha Omega!

Hmm... I've been forgetting all about David lately. And his work. Something to look out for ... for my collection. I knew I was wanting to get back into the collecting mode again (after a few weeks off...)

Hey cool... I just went through my state's cooperative library system and put in a request to borrow both The Peace Book and Peace Child (a study guide by DG).
They're on their way to me now... (rubbing my hands together...) It'll be nice to have them in my hands in a few days...

Hello there, I have the Alpha Omega LP, it's on ebay fairly regularly if you keep an eye out for it. Actually Cat does sing 'Child for a Day' on the LP -- I'm pretty sure it's a different recording than the Izitso track, have to double check; but the files you linked to, DJ, aren't the LP versions. It seems from David's site that Alpha Omega was a work in progress spanning a few years. So the files on the site aren't from the LP, they are from a later performance at Coventry Cathedral. The LP is an earlier version of this music... Oops, I thought they must have been the originals, but thanks for the correction, Lady D. Well, at least it pointed a few towards David's work that had maybe overlooked it. It looks like you have a collector's album there. What other artists appear on the original, and what are your impressions of it?

I don't know if the book that you're borrowing is the Bernard Benson version, but I just found this link...http://www.outoftheark.com/PeaceChild.htm ..which looks like a nice version based on the same idea. There's also a musical version too for schoolkids to perform.

Hi all, Waking up an old thread admittedly, but just in case anyone was interested... As you know, Yusuf is releasing his 40 years anniversary box set which will include Remastered versions of Alpha Omega. David Gordon's Alpha Omega (which later became the Peace Child musical for children) is setting sail in its own right as a fully-fledged musical. If you are interested in following the progress, there's a launch on 5th October and the website is; www.alphaomegamusical.com
