I can't make the Santa Cruz, ca meetup K2, sorry. but if you want to come to the Canton, Ohio meet-up you can visit the Football Hall of Fame. Now wouldn't that be a combination.. Cat Stevens and football!

The one time that I met a mass group of Cat fans was in Orlando when Yusuf visited the University of Central Florida in February of 2001. I had a memorable time. I once dropped in on Vivian in south Florida before she moved to the colder climate of Gainesville. The weather is beautiful this time of year in Tampa. We have Busch Gardens. Disney and Universal are only two hours away. Let's not forget those beautiful beaches.

Well, the last scheduled meet-up was sadly cancelled because less than five folks actually voted on just WHERE we all should meet up( ::)PAH-what a terrible excuse to go and CANCEL it)!
THIS time around we have now gathered about 60 folks who have signed up for the April 10th meet-up! I am pretty sure that THIS meet-up is gonna happen-if it does, then I will record it and share it with all of you here! ;D
Hugs, Shirley

Now, wouldn't it be wonderful if a special guest of honor just happened to show up at one of our meetings! Now, how cool would that be!

Shirley,...I'm not seeing any interest in a Santa Cruz gathering either....unless I'm missing something.
Perhaps we should try to consolidate another location closer to other groups. San Francisco might be cool. maybe visit some of the Harol & Maude sites.(just a crazy idea)
Is there ANYONE else in northern/central California interested in a gathering out there?

Shirley, how many people in your area are going? Hi Sue! Right now, we have approx. SIXTY FANS who have signed up to meet in Visalia(about an hour's drive from Fresno, here in the Central Valley)! ;D That is about TEN MORE folks than what we had sign up for the last meet-up(the one that was cancelled cause less than five folks voted on the location for the meet-up). It seems that the Central Valley is "picking up steam" for this upcoming meet-up: looks like our "Peace Train" is growing LONGER with each passing month! Can't stop smiling, ;D Shirley

Personally, I would LOVE to have a meet-up in either San Francisco or Santa Cruz! I haven't been in that area since the early '80's..wow does time go flying by FAST! I simply ADORE your idea of doing a tour of the various Harold And Maude film sites there, too! Whoever is organizing it HERE has decided on VISALIA as the perfect city for a meet-up for the Central Valley, and I quite agree! K2, is it possible for you to travel to VISALIA on April 10? I am seriously thinking of notifying the Visalia Delta-Times to be there to talk with fans who attend! Shirley

SIXTY FANS who have signed up to meet in Visalia(about an hour's drive from Fresno, here in the Central Valley)! ;D Hi Shirley- Not to be a wet blanket, but doesn't that number refer to how many folks have signed up worldwide? From the meet-up site's main page (under 'Who'): "Cat Stevens Fans Worldwide. So far, 64 have signed up." I just wouldn't want you, or anyone else, to be disappointed. Maybe I'm wrong as I haven't signed up myself and so therefore cannot access the pages with additional details (I figure if Colleen & I want to meet up we can probably organize that on our own...lol). -Joanne

Shirley, sadly Joanne is correct. The 64 members reflect how many people have signed up world wide. The number beside any given city, is the number of members are from that particular city. So far the highest number is set at 2.
Actually the meetup is more for people who do not use message boards and chat rooms to get to know other cat fans. This is a way to let them know if there are any other cat fans close to them, if not in their city, then in at least their state or country. People on message boards have the convenience of trying to set up their own get togethers with people they have come to know.
Plus it can be used as an atlas of sorts, to see where Cat fans are located. We aren't doing to badly (member wise) considering we have only had the cat meetup site going for 2 months now. Eventually people will connect through it. To give you an idea of how the Cat meet up is progressing along.... Simon & Garfunkle has 12, James Taylor has 34, where as Cat we have 64, not as many as Bob Dylan though, they have 740+ members.

Just keep in mind, lots of people are fans (to varying degrees) of the artists you listed. However since few of us are still in our teens, we may not have the time or the desire to spend the day talking about whoever. For those going....HAVE FUN!

Looks like I need to take matters into my own hands.. maybe go so far as to place an ad in the Visalia newspaper, letting Cat fans know about all this! K2, I'd be DELIGHTED to meet you if you could make this trip! I'm sure that we'd have FUN sharing memories, stories, ideas of our man! ;D Let me know when would be a good time for you to come on down, I am off every weekend and holidays too! Hugs, Shirley

It looks as though Phoenix, Arizona may be the home of the very first Cat Meet-up. If you are from Phoenix and plan on attending the meet up, have a terrific time. Let us know how it goes.

I got an e-mail saying that the Cat Stevens meet-up for Phoenix has been officially cancelled. Apparently not enough people voted for a venue. I guess it takes a lot of people to participate to get this to work.

how come i didn't get any mail huh chris ~trouble~ Hi Jamie, There is no need to worry Jamie, you didn't miss out on anything.:-) So far there hasn't been any cat stevens meetups First thing you need to do is to register at the 'international meet-up website to have a meet up. catstevens.meetup.com/ Once there are 4 or 5 people who have registered from your town and have voted as to where to meet, you can have a get together. As of yet there has been no meet ups that I know of.... But there are a few cities such as London, Phoenix and Copenhagen which are getting close to being able to have meet ups.
