I read this on VH1 of all places about Yusuf "Cat" this can't be true!!!!!!! > The singer made headlines again in July 2000 when he was detained and deported from Israel while at an airport in Jerusalem. It was the second time he had been denied admittance to the country since 1990. Two years prior, the Israeli government had accused him of donating tens of thousands of dollars to Islamic terrorist group Hamas < When I read things like this about Cat I really wonder?? why do they write such things about a man I believe to be peace loving towards all people?? I do not want to ever believe he is involved in any thing like that!!!!!!!! IT would just break my heart if he was!!!!!!!! I would not be able to listen to his music anymore if it was "proven" he was involved in such acts in anyway > as in giving money to terrorist groups!!!!!!!!  |

I found this on the WWW > Filming of the VH1 special was disrupted in July when Islam traveled to Jerusalem with the VH1 crew and was denied entrance into the country by the Israeli government. He was accused of allegedly supporting Hamas. However, Islam issued a statement strongly denying the charges saying that he had no connections to any groups and gives donations for humanitarian causes. "I want to make sure that people are aware that I've never knowingly supported any terrorist groups -- past, present, or future," he said < I feel better now !! KS  |

Thanks KS for investigating into it further, before making your decision on Yusuf.
Yusuf has denied making any donations to hamas or any other terrorist organization in the past, and I tend to believe him. If any money went to Hamas, it went through second and third parties, and not with Yusuf acknowledgment. Yusuf in the last 5 years or so, has been trying to promote the peace within Islam to the Islamic and non-Islamic world. He's fast becoming a spokesperson for Islam to show the world, that Terrorism is not the way of Islam. He's been given the 2003 World Social award in Germany and stood up with the Dali Lama and other high ranking religious leaders at the 5 Religions Peace Summit.

All I can say is to believe what's in your heart. I know Yusuf is a kind and peaceful man, who would never knowingly support any kind of terrorism. But unfortunately, some of the media has treated Yusuf very unfairly, and never gave him a break.

Hello all ~ Nice to hear that Vivian & Christine; Yusuf has done allot of good work I am learning ;D Yes, the media has not been unfair or even dishonest concerning Yusuf !! I have researched this subject further in the last couple of days and my beloved Cat “Yusuf ” is who I have always believed he was!! A peace loving gentle man !! I study Buddhism and live my life by that belief system. It is what has worked for me ~ Muslim is what worked for Yusuf > we all have our own way of finding our own inner peace & and that is all that matters  I'm learning so this is good!! KS |

Yes, the media "HAS BEEN" ::)unfair or even dishonest concerning Yusuf !!
I have researched this subject further in the last couple of days and my beloved Cat “Yusuf ” is who I have always believed he was!!
A peace loving gentle man !!
I study Buddhism and live my life by that belief system.
It is what has worked for me ~ Muslim is what worked for Yusuf > we all have our own way of finding our own inner peace & and that is all that matters
I'm learning so this is good!!

well, here is the retraction the paper that made the false statement had to print. In addition they had to donate funds to Yusuf's choice of charity and also pay his legal costs: It's about time someone in the media is forced to take responsibility for the way Yusuf has been treated by some members of the media. Next time, they just might think twice before making such untrue statements. |
