Hi Ayah... Welcome back! "Wild World" was MY very first introduction to Cat, too, albeit many, many years ago. I've always loved his music, always will... And connecting with other fans via sites like this has been a wonderful thing. Hope you'll feel free to post more!

Well, I was looking for the perfect place to put my first post to Majikat. I am Catsdeb (Debbie). I look forward to meeting new friends who love Cat/Yusuf as much as I and to seeing some that I have already gotten to know a bit at CS.com.

[quote author=anya my favourite Cat Stevens song is How Can I Tell You (I wish someone would sing it to me ) and of course all of his songs!! [/quote] The guy who introduced me to Cat DID sing me that song. It is the only one anyone has ever sang to me like that. He was in the Marine Corp. in CA. He came to Colorado twice to visit me and had learned it between the first and second visit. He hated the Marines, so I think he was a little sad all the time which kind of makes you romantic like that. I was just a 15 yr. old kid too young to appreciate it. In fact, I didn't even remember the song until I heard Cat sing it. Then I said, Isn't that the song he sang me? Now it means something that he sang it even though once he got out of the Marines, I didn't hear from him much. Now it's been 22 year since we last spoke. Debbie

Welcome Ayah,
Cat has wide appeal. I manage a Residential College. It's no big deal, just 140 young University students, but it's nice to find that some of the musically inclined students still know of Cat.
It's always particularly nice to hear the point of view of young people. Let's face it, Cat walked out of the music business, as most of us understand it, a quarter of a century ago.
He was a brilliant talent. I for one didn't appreciate him fully until years later when I then became obsessed with music, playing and singing. I would be more obsessed if I had greater guitar skills, but I still try very hard to play Cat's songs.
I am only a little older than Cat. I was learning to play guitar when Cat got his first guitar. I still play almost every day, and yet he plays a hundred times better than I ever did. (Yet, despite my age, I'm still improving on guitar.) I sing too, but God never gifted me with a beautiful voice like Cat.
But...... Millions of us have been inspired by Cat. Millions of us care about 'Where children play'. Millions of us care about the breakdown of family. (Father & Son)
Cat is still as missunderstood as God, if indeed, God exists or existed.
Maybe God is here, now. Maybe he exists in you. Who knows? Maybe even in me, and in many others. Certainly in Martin Luther King, Harry Chapin, Cat Stevens, Dalai Lama. Want to suggest others?
Welcome anyway.
Bill
