I am flabberghasted!! No Cat Stevens music in the new Harold and Maude off-Broadway Play... I guess they wanted to update it a bit. But still, this is like blasphemy!! She admires Mr. Thalken's score - which has no connection to the Cat Stevens soundtrack of the film - for its pathos and musical complexity, and sang snatches to demonstrate their appeal.www.nytimes.com/2005/01/02/theater/newsandfeatures/02schi.html

I cannot even begin to imagine Harold and Maude without the music of Cat Stevens. No way, no how. That is one movie I will not go see.
Peace,Vivian

"Harold and Maude" isn't "Harold and Maude" without the Cat songs!

So... what song is the banjo-carrying Harold going to go jaunting off into the sunset to?
Pretty incomprehensible...

It'll be like The Graduate without Simon & Garfunkel. Or Yellow Submarine without The Beatles. It's a crime!

absolutely!!
The two go hand in hand, like Peanut Butter and Jelly.
Where would be that precious scene of Maude singing If You Want To Sing out.... be? It's unconcievable.
I know the play is suppose to be a musical, but ...come on, Harold and Maude need Cat Steven music, this is as bad as when they remade 'An Affair to Remember' using an trans-atlantic airplane instead of a Ocean Liner. You just shouldn't change things, when they are perfect the way they are.

First rule of thumb: Don't fix what's not broke! And leaving out Cat's music from Harold and Maude is about as broken as you can get.

I am absolutely astounded to hear there will be no Cat Stevens music in the new Harold and Maude. I can't imagine it being a success without all those beautifully inspiring songs .... Jackie

It'll never work! I watched the new Thunderbirds movie over Christmas. Lady Penelope did not have her famous Rolls Royce! She had a big pink posh car but not the Rolls. It just wasn't right! Spoilt it for me. ...And another thing... when I was a youth, R&B music was Arthur Alexander, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry... these days it's young girls from South London doing karaoke cover versions. You know... I'm still aghast about this. For one thing, I simply can't imagine that opening sequence with any other music than "Don't Be Shy". (Still shaking my head in perplexity...)

just that harold & maude is becoming a play changes it dramatically with or without cat music............ it's probably better that cat's music won't be included. this way his music will be exclusive to his musical production.
