I was in London this weekend, so thought I'd post a 'new' photo of Cat's old home.

Love the photo, cristalina! What was running through your mind when you snapped it? I think it would be really cool if Yusuf could re-acquire the property and operate the restaurant (well, not him personally, but you know what I mean...). It just seems like that would be a nice "circular" kind of endeavor from a personal history point of view. And besides, wouldn't it be a riot to stop by the "Cat Cafe" for a spot of tea and some scones?? ;D

Nice shot, Cristalina. Thanks for posting it. I wonder which part of the property is "to let"... -Joanne

Y'know, I read recently that the Brondesbury Park Hotel had been closed and that other options were being looked into... -Joanne

While I was there I had assumed it was the property on the corner which was to let, but looking again at the photo, I don't know why I had thought that. Hey wouldn't it be interesting if we could rent out Cat's old bedroom, who wants to move to London then? The moped could come in handy too I tried to picture a young Cat sitting at an upstairs window, writing his songs while I was standing there ;D

I have my own pictures of myself standing in front of that beautiful and historic building, from 2002.

Thanks Cristalina, It looks like a nice building. I had heard that it had an extensive face lift a few years ago. To bad they didn't keep the Isitzo sticker that use to darn the front window in the 1970's. BTW.. did you stop in for a bite to eat? Christine

The restaurant, which was still Alfred's at the time, was closed on my visit. So I just snapped some pics from the outside, and had Hairy take pics of me standing in front. I know it's a few years late, but maybe if I send them Christine, she can post them for me. Oh how I would LOVE to get a tour of the inside, and see Cat's old room. Maybe some day.
Peace,Vivian

No problem, Vivian. Send away. ;-)
I'd love to visit the restaraunt some time mysellf. Hopefully next time you get to London, Viv, you can walk inside of the restaurant. I wonder how many people stop in and ask about the Moulin Rouge.

Great picture, christalina. Brought back memories. When I ate there in '77, it was called Stavros. I entered from the Shaftesbury Avenue side and sat facing the other street and the sticker was low on the glass opposite the table. When I finished my meal, I walked over to see what it was. Just the small round sticker that said Izitso was all there was in the dining area of the restaurant relating to Cat Stevens.
