Hi everyone, I haven't been to the site in awhile due to my IT programs at work. Luckily I was able to sneak thru. I just sent this to Christine, but now that I can actually add a thread, thought I would do so. I found this link: www.imdb.com/title/tt0067185/It shows Cat as the guy sitting in front of Maude at the funeral. It doesn't say anything about him as the hitchhiker, so that will still remain a mystery for now. It's nice to be back...hopefully for awhile. -Terri

welcome back Terri :-) It's so nice to see you.
Thanks for the link, thisis really nice to see.
You know I have heard people say they think it is possible that Cat may be in a few other scenes in H&M. Sort of like the hidden treasure of H&M. ;-) Perhaps with any luck we'll have these suspicions confirmed as well one day.

Vivian. If you go to the website above and look at the cast credits, scroll down & go to the second page. The last entry shows Cat Stevens as "Man in Front of Maude at Funeral".

Man in Front of Maude at Funeral at 21:30 (m/s) from the beginning: Thank you so much, Glaucus! I only just found out that Glaucus is a character from Harold and Maude (from a link to the screenplay , within TerrifiCAT's link from above). Here's a quote: "The first thing we notice is the large block of ice in the center of the room - seven to eight feet tall -. . . The sculptor, GLAUCUS, a frail, little, white-haired old man, dressed in winter clothing, turns from the ice with a chisel and hammer in his gloved hand." And of course, your signature goes along very nicely with this, Glaucus- are you an ice sculptor? Also, as far as the picture of Cat, I think it looks weird because he had very long hair stuffed up into his hat, and a strand came out and is hanging down. Also, the "tip" of his nose looks strange, but if you look very closely, you can see that it's because there is something behind him that looks like part of his nosetip, but isn't really. If you cover the very "tip" with your finger, you can recognize Cat's nose. I am bothered by how his beard looks like it has some gray, since I don't think he had any gray in 1971 . . . ~Sun~

Maybe they just touched up his beard to make him look older?

And of course, your signature goes along very nicely with this, Glaucus- are you an ice sculptor? Not in a litteral sense! As far as this gentleman that really looks like Cat (IMHO), you really have to watch the whole funeral scene. Yes, in fact, this person has long hair tucked into his hat, at one point you can see him from behind and it's quite obvious. Also, you will notice that he's always looking down. And after all, this is "the movies" with make-up, costumes, etc. In any case, it's fun to wonder if it's him or not!

Yes, ladylussummer and Glaucus - it's the movies - with make-up and disguises and wonderment! And it is fun! I fell in love with Harold and Maude years ago. Please forgive me, but I just can't resist repeating Vivian's quote from the Harold and Maude L. E. stamped in Vinyl thread: I love what Yusuf has to say: "What was interesting was, I’d done that project, I’d kind of put it behind me. But then, over the years it’s just taken on so much importance. It’s a milestone, and a part of people’s memories, which they love… and I love it too. Other things disappear or assume smaller proportions. Harold and Maude just gets better and means more and more. It’s the rarest thing. A film that gets better with age.” Peace,Vivian I love what Yusuf has to say, too. I'm so glad he understands how people feel. Thanks, Vivian! ~Sun~

If it is Cat, they not only reshaped the side of his beard, but completely changed the shape of his mustache too. Cat's was never full on the sides like in the funeral picture. The guy in the picture also looks like he's in his mid forties, but like you've said, it's the movies. They could have made Cat look like Richard Simmons if they wanted to.

This is just my opinion, of course, but if you look at the second picture posted by glaucus, the close-up, those are clearly Cat's lips!!

I really don't think it looks like him. But what the heck, I'm sure he would have done it just for the fun.
