Fall 2006, Can we actually wait that long? OK, I'll try to be patient.. This is fantastic news, thanks Sue.
I love the reminiscent of his Teaser album, now they really have me curious.

Thanks, Sue!
So now it's fall instead of the beginning of this year which I believe we read somewhere last year. Not that I wish summer away, as I can't wait for spring and summer to arrive and want to enjoy a long, leisurely one, but darn, I am impatient.
And who could blame us for being impatient, it has been 28 years between albums, LOL.

Youwill be older and appreciate it more! Don't forget Viv, Autumn seems to be the magic season for Yusuf. Vh1 (October), the Boxset was in the Fall as well. It just seems the fall energizes the cat man. We seem to hear more about Yusuf in the fall then any other season.

I'm use to trying to patiently ( or impatiently) wait for fall, since I always go on my vacation in the fall. The only problem is, it's usually when I am on vacation that something interesting comes out about Yusuf. lol

au.launch.yahoo.com/060321/10/lxyy.htmlYusuf Islam Returns With New Album (Soundbuzz, Wednesday March 22, 6:00 AM) ADVERTISEMENT Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, has recorded his first pop album since 1978. The Morning Has Broken singer, who converted to Islam in the late 1970s and turned his back on his music career, has yet to decide whether he'll release his new material as Cat Stevens or Yusuf Islam. He has also yet to decide when the new material will be released, but he has three unnamed record labels fighting for the rights. Islam has kept his recordings to a minimum in recent years, fearing his interest in pop culture would upset his Muslim elders. (wenn) I found this interesting. Three unnamed labels are fighting for rights to Yusuf's new CD, months beofre it is even released. I guess they know GOLD when they see it. Peace,Vivian

Greetings and salutations, Earthlings! Long time no see. I'd like to add my 2 cents re this Yahoo news tidbit. au.launch.yahoo.com/060321/10/lxyy.html
Yusuf Islam Returns With New Album (Soundbuzz, Wednesday March 22, 6:00 AM)
Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, has recorded his first pop album since 1978. (wenn) To start with, the author has not done the homework re this statement: Islam has kept his recordings to a minimum in recent years, fearing his interest in pop culture would upset his Muslim elders.[/i] There are no 'elders' in Islam. It's between you and Allah with no middleman. There are scholars though, who have a wide range of opinions from arch conservative to liberal. All of them have formed their particular viewpoint through studying the Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad's life and interpreting them as they feel is correct, however an individual Muslim is not bound to listen to any one of them. It is the individual Muslim's responsibility to study... and form one's own opinion. No one will be standing with you on Judgement Day... so you better hope you came to the correct conclusions. No blaming another for what you did/said will be tolerated. It's just you standing naked before the Throne. Since our destination at Judgement Day is determined as to whether the good deeds outweighed the bad or vice versa and a pair of angels sit on our shoulders writing down everything we do/think/say, it makes us stop and think hard about what the consequences of each action will be... in this world and more importantly in the next. We want the angel with the good deed book to do as much writing as possible. OK, so it took Br. Yusuf 25 years to decide he could do what comes naturally again... hopefully without repercussions on Judgement Day. There is no specific ban on music in Islam and just about every bio says his imam encouraged him to keep making music, so what we have seen is baby steps. Br. Yusuf apparently would rather be safe than sorry and so would I. Heck, when he laughed with me in 2001 re the far-fetched idea of another Cat Stevens concert, that's just where he was at at the time. As far as what his name will be on the pop album when it is released, how important really is this anyway? I find it hard to believe that he'd consider anything other than putting both names on it. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. I wonder why he's decided his beard should be long and hair short instead of the other way round as in the old days. Perhaps just to make that distinction. Are you guys aware that he's also just released a compilation called 'Footsteps in the Light"? www.footstepsinthelight.comsalaam, kareema

It's nice to be back... at least until I get busy again. Actually I am home recuperating from a lung and ear infection, so I have nothing but time these days.
Vivian, I can't order Footsteps in the Light either or even log in. I think they are still working the kinks out. I emailed them about it.
Interesting name, Ya Music... 'Ya' means 'O' in Arabic. As in "Ya Allah" or "O God".
So he named his new label "O Music". Perhaps it's representational of his being in both the secular and the Muslim worlds. Or to indicate that his new music is a synthesis of both.
salaam/peace to you, kareema

Peace,Vivian Vivian, the CD cover is sharp isn't it.. as I told someone else it sort of reminds me of the cover of Izitso, but with out the Yoyo, or the Arm, or The Color Red... haha.. I guess that only leaves me his profile to remind me of izitso. ;-)
