Hey both Metalica and Kiss are both great bands in their chosen field and both have contributed good song to music. Would a simple Kiss classic "God save rock and roll" get your booty shaking. If not then you have no music in your soul.

As towards his music,some people on here are way too much into Cat Stevens! To the point of well slightly obsessive to stakerish...To be honest,they deserve to brought down a peg or two!

Towards his music toward the latter half of 70's. I would say he became rather repetitive and redundant, Numbers would be an example of that one which could be seen as an ode towards his ego.

If you push him on his views on politics and religion lets just say it won't be pretty.But it seems he's mellowed out a bit from his old views. which should be interesting to see what happens next!

You speak rationally and others will speak rationally to you in return and not make fun of you for being booted at catcom. I don't like catcom as it stands now myself but maybe when Yusuf takes over things will get better. Maybe so and maybe not; who knows at this juncture? I am a Cat Stevens fan and no not at the stalker level, so I am not ashamed of my admiration for him on any level.
Coming over to bash him is not rational at all. I know that you are intelligent enough to see that because I have seen posts by you at Catcom that proved it to be true. You were respectful of him there too until you started this "his music sucks bit" just out of the blue. No one likes that sort of thing and just write it off as childish banter. Of course, there are many other artists whose music is good, great and superb even. To each his own in the taste department. Just because a person likes one artist over another, it does not mean that you have to slam the lesser liked singer/musician. That is just too 5th grade. I feel that you are not by nature a mean/evil person so your coming on so strong in the "his music sucks" department threw some people for a loop including me. I am now descending my soap box. Oh my goodness! Don't you ever give up? You have had your say at catcom over and over again. Do you honstly think the mods from that site are going to come over here to listen to you rant and rave with the same tired rhetoric that poor Christine is now being subjected to. We get it: you feel put upon, Yusuf is not Allah, you are for peace. Yet you skip from one site to another to carry on a virtual fight with Nur. Get a grip, child. I really don't know a lot about Mr. Islam, in depth, that is why I came here, to find out more, so I cannot comment on his political views or faith.
Actually, my feeling is, to each his own.
He seems, from what I do know, to be a humanitarian.

I am sure there are some fans who idolize, it happens all the time with many artists, I am not one of them.
Even so, I don't feel the need to bring anyone "Down a peg."
Why should I, why should you?
Isn't there much more to life than this?

I love his music, almost all of it.
But I also love the music of many other artists, very different music compared to Cat's.

I heard he was making a new album, so I decided to search for some info. on the net, this site came up, that is why I am here.
While I do respect the opnions of others, yours included, I still find it odd to join a site only to be negative.

I'm assuming that you mean stalkerish. I'm not a huge fan of his late 70's material. I think that his early 70's material was excellent. However, you have to like singer/songwriters to
appreciate it. I'm more into music than spectacle. Kiss could
put on a fun teenage stage show if that's what you like.

Well its true his later material was never going to match up with "first four album"- Mona to Catch although they showed sparks of originality it still lacked enough conviction from him by 1978 the reason revealed itself.

This kind of board is interesting is shows a lot of varied opinions but one thing that riles me is: if you say the slightest thing wrong about Cat/Yusuf they would jump on that person like a bunch of rabid wolves. About "bringing people down a peg or two" well I'm not in a position to that but their is a line between ardent fan and being into something too much!!!!!!

Yes his music is good but to a point and to the person who say Metallica and Kiss being "putting on a good teenage show" you could say that about the Majikat tour even the Beatles put on a good teenage show.Remember screaming teenage girls-the term comes to mind, Drop and spread them .

But in the fullness of time the impact they had on Music can be appreciated.If your starting out in music you need a gimmick,if you want to put on a fantastic rock show you would look at a Kiss concert,introspective lyrical music Cat,James even Eminem,Song editing McCartney and Wilson.

All I'm saying their is good and bad music out their its up to you choose.Yes his music was good but some people think the sun shines out of his back side and they do deserved to be riled from time to time...
