Welcome to the world of Cat Stevens... Please do not mis-quote me the term "lonely" was never used. All I'm saying their is good and bad music out their its up to you choose.Yes his music was good but some people think the sun shine out of back side and they do deserved to be riled from time to time...
I'm not sure who died and made you judge, jury, and executioner on this one. Who gave you the authority to rile anyone up? No one I can see or hear. And, incidentally, coming to a fan site dedicated to Cat Stevens and saying his music sucks is not saying "the slightest wrong thing about Yusuf" which in turn riles people up. It is a rotten thing to say, blue. Get real. |

Please do not mis-quote me the term "lonely" was never used  Well its true his later material was never going to match up with "first four album"- Mona to Catch although they showed sparks of originality it still lacked enough conviction from him by 1978 the reason revealed itself. This kind of board is interesting is shows a lot of varied opinions but one thing that riles me is: if you say the slightest thing wrong about Cat/Yusuf they would jump on that person like a bunch of rabid wolves. About "bringing people down a peg or two" well I'm not in a position to that but their is a line between ardent fan and being into something too much!!!!!! Yes his music is good but to a point and to the person who say Metallica and Kiss being "putting on a good teenage show" you could say that about the Majikat tour even the Beatles put on a good teenage show.Remember screaming teenage girls-the term comes to mind, Drop and spread them . But in the fullness of time the impact they had on Music can be appreciated.If your starting out in music you need a gimmick,if you want to put on a fantastic rock show you would look at a Kiss concert,introspective lyrical music Cat,James even Eminem,Song editing McCartney and Wilson. All I'm saying their is good and bad music out their its up to you choose.Yes his music was good but some people think the sun shine out of back side and they do deserved to be riled from time to time... Lol, pal I don't want to fight. I wish to step back in time to the "summer of love" minus Vietnam. You're really not going to create a strong dialogue by stating the man's music sucks. LOL Not every song Cat Stevens sang is a classic. No argument there at all. However, he had some great material and definitely made his mark on the music world. |

Actuallly I like his later music better than the Teaser/Tiller period. And for the record, I'm didn't say that KISS and Metallica aren't good bands, I only repeated the response I've heard repeatedly from print industry coworkers. It goes something like this: "Give me a break, you like Cat Stevens? That guy's a religious fanatic. And besides his music sucks. Cat Stevens waswhat people perceived him to be.Its interesting if you read or see an interview by the people who worked or were close to Cat Stevens always reffered to him as "Steve" and never Cat. He ever went by two real names if you think about it. Firstly was Steve and now Yusuf.. Cat Stevens never really existed but just an idea. |

He is not here to defend himself now is he. Another person comes in ranting about something that insulted her at Catcom and is way off the beaten track on that one. Someone needs to set her straight. That is what message boards are ~~ venues to leave messages that you feel are relevant to your feelings and beliefs and what you feel or know to be right. These people could be ignored, yes, but obviously people didn't feel that that was warranted in this case. To each is own. Thank you for your opinion. |

If the moderator/owner doesn't know what this other girl is talking about how on earth can she set her straight. Pretty much of an impossibility I would say. Besides, that was not the kind of straightening out I was referring to my dear.
