For anyone who would like to hear Rod sing Father and Son, heres a link to the Chris Evans Radio Show CLICK Listen Again to the show: | TUE | Forward to 1hr 15mins (By clicking 15mins x 5 top left hand corner) it's about 2 mins after that Enjoy www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/evans/I like the part at the end about his son... This is only available for this week... I just listened to this a couple of days ago. I really enjoyed hearing Rod's comments. He said "Father and Son" was his favorite track on the album. Also said he did the song three times when recording. He had his baby son on his lap while recording and the baby started whimpering, or making some noise on the third take, so they used the second take. I like Rod's version quite a lot - not as much as Cat's, but Rod did a very nice rendition, I think. I am always so pleased when another artist covers Cat's songs. It must be the ultimate compliment to a songwriter to have another artist appreciate and want to do their song. Thanks so much SuzieQ for the link!

I'm sure Yusuf must get a real buzz out of this. I prefer Faces period Rod but this one is nicely put together.

I like a lot of Rod's old songs but I think his version of Father and Son was very poor.
Furthermore I also think that Rod totally murdered Nazareth's classic song 'Love Hurts'. It's one of my favourite songs but Rod did it no justice.
Rod's voice is awesome but he really isn't taking full advantage of it.

You just cannot beat things like Mandolin Wind and of course, Maggie May by Rod. One of his finest cover moments I thought was Maybe I'm Amazed with the late great Ronnie Lane.

Every Picture Paints a Story, is a classic album and ranks as one of my all time favorite LP's. I love his "Reason To Believe" It really is a shame he didn't continue playing songs such as these, rather than fall into the disco scene with songs like Do You Think I'm Sexy and Hot Legs. So, it's nice to see he is getting back to the classics.
Have you ever seen him in concert? Talk about a ball of energy, he use to be able to keep "Maggie May" going on for 15 minutes all the while kicking soccer balls out into the audience. He is one performer that actually gets his audience involved.

The funniest thing I ever saw was Kenny Everett's impersonation of Rod, wearing "spray on" leopardskin pants (ahem... "trousers" for us UK cousins) - every few seconds the derriere would grow until Rod was levitating like a balloon!

Johnny Cash performed a duet with his daughter, Roseanne singing, 'Father and Daughter' will that surfice? Though my favorite song by Johnny and Roseanne together is "September when it comes" very heartwarming.

Rosey Nix sang with her dad Johnny on the original version. It was released posthumously in the form of a recent unreleased version with Fiona Apple on the Johnny Cash Unearthed box set. Personally I prefer the 70s version with Rosey but the version with Fiona Apple is very nice.
