I've taken down two threads that were infringing on respect, as you conversed back and forth about two old girlfriends of Cats.
If you can not talk about these women and give them the human respect that everyone deserves. Than threads will be deleted, just as these have. It's about human decency and being kind and understanding toward your fellow man/woman.

Well FYI, back during the final days of cs.com someone claiming to be Lucy Whitman posted links to her blog and daughter's memorial website. She maintains a detailed blog (which at times borders on the bizzare) on the open web and anyone is free to read or leave comments. Now she and her enablers are all shocked that people are talking about her? Give me a break! Attention seeker anyone? A shame the thread is gone because it was the most interesting one in along time. I didn't see anything disrespectful about it. This is a controversial complex interesting woman who;s made some very big public mistakes. I don't get why it;s somehow inappropriate to talk about. (very very sad about her beautiful daughter )

And the final word really is up to Christine. Whether or not, we all agree with her all the time, she runs this site with Yusuf's best interest in mind, and since this is the official Cat Stevens site, that's the way it should be.

Well until all the age speculation started, and you were right in there with that talk Vivian, the thread about Lucy was really just an update of her recent legal troubles and the news on the death of her daughter. Plus some general meanderings about the choices we make in life. Interesting stuff. Really had nothing to do with Yusuf. But oh well, Christine has the final word as you say, so that is that.

When we registered as Majicat members, each and every one of us agreed to the "Terms of Use," which include the following:
Respect__ Respect for all viewpoints, Respect for all who post here, Respect for Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens, and Respect for Majicat itself.
Objectionable Material. By registering, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise volatile of any laws. This is a G-rated messageboard, so keep it clean and friendly. We reserve the right to remove posts that are abusive, hateful, defame or insult anyone.
Any postings, which result in disruption of the board or look to be purposely leading in that direction will be removed and the author possibly banned.
. . . treat others with understanding and respect . . .
We need to look after and respect this fine site which should reflect Yusuf's values.
Majicat Messageboard is meant to be a warm, pleasant place. By following these rules, you will help make sure that is possible. Thank you, and welcome to our group!
_____________________________________________
I'm not sure how many Majicat members saw the last posts of the deleted threads, but I think any objective analysis would lead to the conclusion that they were clearly violating the spirit and intent of the TOU.
That's why I agree with Christine's decision to delete the threads, and I think it would be unfair to agree to the Terms of Use and then complain when Christine applies them.

(very very sad about her beautiful daughter ) I completely agree, but I think the mods were just trying to make a gesture of respect. I don't agree with the method, but I understand the purpose, if that even makes sense. Besides, deleting threads here isn't going to change the truth (and it also has no effect on the several other Internet sources of the very information that was deleted). I also feel that it is not only incorrect, but also simply absurd to believe that addressing issues from Cat/Yusuf's past is "disrespectful". But, like Vivian (who regularly took part in the Patti and Lucy discussions) typed, it's Christine's site and she can do whatever she wants with it.

Yes, I admit, I took some part in those discussions. And if I did post anything "inappropriate, I will apologize to Christine. But as I said, I know that Christine has Yusuf's best interest in mind, and that includes talk of any of Cat's past girlfriends.

There are many websites to voice your feelings in strong ways. Let all who want to do this go to them freely. I am glad we have an administrator with such compassion for this site and others as well as concern. Makes it so much nicer to come here. I come here to read and share and learn. Getting ripped to shreds is something we all experience too much of in the world. I do not know any of the particulars, and do not care to, but it seems pertinent to say thank you, Christine.

"I never wanted to be a star " The Movie, So who out there could write the screen play , Yusuf's life amazing journey, It would be a block buster. Remember life's rich tapestry is made up of many threads, deeply woven into the fabric. some may not be perfect but are still an inticate part of the cloth .Michele

I appreciate the words of those who understand what I am trying to do with Majicat. I do not like being a hardnose, but when I see a thread going against what I want Majicat to represent. Then yes, I delete it. I've put my whole heart and soul into Majicat, not just the message board, but the main site. And I do not want one or two bad threads to represent the whole site. If your upset about this, try to look at as if it were your house. If your living room had a cracked wall, wouldn't you want to seal it before it spreads? I'm assuming the answer would be yes. It's the same with Majicat.
Thank you to those who wish to understand.
Christine

You do provide a good forum to express opions on steve/cat/yusuf. The threads that i post on here.I do like to be thought and a little provoking. You quite liberal as well which is suprising. Could some member tone down there "self-righteousness" a bit down, please.

I haven't been around for a couple of days, so I have very little idea what this is about but I just wanted to voice my 100% support of Christine here, as I have done in the past, both publicly and privately. Yusuf Islam is a class act, and this website and message board has always reflected that fact thanks to Christine and many others.
