take a look at the Porchester hall thread. There are some pictures. Yusuf has a Gibson J200. I was very pleased to see that Guitar with him again. That's about a $5,000 guitar. I want one!!

Hi, I'm new here. I love that Gibson too. Saw a 1974 example in a Pawn Shop! in Canterbury, England. The guy wanted £3,000. They are £3,500 new. I feel sorry for the poor muso who had to pawn that guitar. Apparently, the Epiphone version, which is about £300, is almost as good as the real thing at a tenth of the cost. It's my birthday in a week, if anybody is stuck for what to get me?!

The Epiphone isn't bad, but, sorry, it cannot beat or come even close to the original J-180 by Gibson.

I've played several of both the Gibson and the Epiphone. Some of each played and sounded great and some not so great. Even some lesser brands get lucky and put out an excellent sounding and playing guitar. I bought a Takamine 12 string in the early 80's that sounded beautiful and played almost like it was a 6 string. Sold it to a friend of mine a few years later and have been kicking myself ever since. For the money, I'd keep playing both the Gib and Epi until you find an Epi that you can't put down. They're all beautiful guitars, you just gotta wait for that special "one".
