I just had a breakthrough!! I've figured out Aluns whole part in the wind. If you have someone play it while Cats part is played it sounds perfect. You can barely hear it but it's evident after you get my tab and play it for your self. The song is even beautiful just Aluns part and the singing. I'll have it up soon plus extra instruction on you tube. This was it can be heard and will make it easier to play. I figured it out watching the Yusuf's Cafe DVD. They showed some of Alun playing it and I filled in the gaps I couldn't see. Hint Capo 7th fret!!

This must be a new addition then because in the original "The Wind" on Teaser & the Firecat it's only Cat's guitar, a bass, and some percussion/cymbal-like instrument if I hear it correctly. It may be that Alun played the small intro for The Wind on the original LP.
Havn't had a too good look at the version Cat, and Alun played for his Café session, though. Live performance are always a tad pumped up filling gaps here and there that fit perfectly well for a studio album, but not really for a "mass" audience.

Take another listen. It continues through the whole song. If you listen you can hear the squeaking of Aluns guitar as he slides from D/ F# to G capoed at 7th fret on the D string. You'll agree after you see the tab and after I make the you tube video. I recorded it on my computer with me playing Aluns track and then Yusufs track and they go together just right. When Yusuf plays it solo he does just his track and it sounds just as good. But the Alun and Yusuf version is much more filled out.

I always thought it was a single guitar too except for the continued playing of the openning chord. Not surprised though, it wouldn't be the first time I missed hearing the second guitar. Now you've got me wondering. I'll go listen for it. This is the kind of stuff I really like about being on this site with other guitarists. More ears to listen, more ways to play the same parts. Thanks again Kristian.

EXCELLENT! I didn't hear it 'til the third time I played it. Alun plays the beginning chord 3 times during the first verse and then you can hear him switch (and the string squeak) to the other 2 chords. Man those two were tight. I listened to it in the car as I drove my kids across town so I haven't picked up the guitar yet and won't be able to 'til tonight. I'll bet being capoed on the 7th makes that first chord a lot easier to play too. Great job Kristian! I'll get back to you after I pick up the guitar later.

I'll help you out a little before the tab gets up. Keep the same pattern as in th opening play it 4 times for intro then twice with Cats guitar. All this on the 7th fret is a modified G Chord. Using the D string 5th fret as the base. THen switch to a C shape and play the bass and B and G strings, play this once. Never play the E strings. Then switch to D/F# play this once and squeak your way back down to G. Chords XX503X TWICE THEN X3X01X ONCE THEN XX432X ONCE THEN XX503X . For the I swam up part Start off in normal C then do a transition to Am like this xx5xxx xx4xxx xx2xxx then x0221x. then it's just C D G modified like before then Am C Am C trans to Am like a bove C D Gmod then Am C AM C D G then your set up for the next part.

Oh, I watched the Yusuf Cafe again, and Alun plays that G shape 3 times. (These are all shapes) the D/F# so G G G D/F# G. No C shape like I thought. Although C shape would be correct because C shape at the 7th fret is actually a G natuaral. But Alun plays it 3 times then switches and back to G shape. However It sounds great both ways. Especially if you like that D note droning throughout the whole verse. C shape still exists in the I swam up on the Devils lake..........never never part. Keepin it at G shape also makes it easier to transition to AM shape. which is actually Em natural.
