Dear Shirley Pena,

After I read about your wonderful story in the webpage on this site (remember: Shirley Pena Meets Yusuf Islam Los Angeles, California), I decided to write to you and say how much I enjoyed it and try to answer your question.

The inscription reads: "All praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds-Yusuf Islam. The intro line is written in Arabic(is there ANYONE who can TRANSLATE it for me?)

I am sure by now you have got that translated but in case you are still wondering what it say, it say: "Alsalam alaikom" (of course there is no vowel in Arabic. Or may I say the usage of vowel is optional) and reads as "Asalam alaikom" or simply "salam alaikom" and as you know, it means "peace be upon you."

Well, guess what? As I was reading the message posted by the people, I saw droideka's translation. Well, I think I can delete this but just for the fun of it, I leave it for the people so they can see that I am blind. Or they see how a non-Arab person like me may translate an Arabic text.

I REALLY ENJOY each and every opportunity I get to hear from SO MANY wonderful folks who write in to answer that question I had about the translation! ;D

It really does NOT matter to me that it has ALREADY been translated by others; each time someone writes in to yet again translate Yusuf's message it gives me yet ANOTHER chance to meet a NEW fellow admirer of Yusuf(translation:meet WONDERFUL FOLKS)! ;D
