What is your favorite track on YI's new cd, "In Praise of the Last Prophet"? I'm having trouble deciding, no small wonder, but I think I've narrowed it down to, "Cahaya Selawat" by Raihan, or "May God Bless You" (love YI's voice in that one ) But then again...I really like "Sunshine, Dust and the Messenger of Allah" by Dawud Wharnsby-Ali, "Rakan Selawat - Mawlid", and "Madinah Tun-Nabi"...Oh, I can't decide! Vivian, help me! hehehehe peace and love, Susan

Oh my, this is a hard one . I just love hearing Yusuf sing in Arabic so I do like In'Nilta. And I've always loved Tala al-Badru'Alayna. Then there' Madinah Tun-Nabi - that is one of favs to sing along to when driving to Canada. There are so many great songs. Sunshine Dust and the Messenger of Allah is great. I guess I'll just have to listen to it over and over again to decide . ...peace, kim

God, I don't know which one to pick. But I have to say that Yusuf does a killer job on "In Nilta". He sounds awesome. The whole CD is excellent.

Hehehe A'isha you can have one going in each end of your house. Now that's what I call stereo. How do you like the Road to Madinah CD? Isn't it adorable? I just love that 'What have I done today' song as I am sure folks from here to Canada can atest. They can probably atest to the fact that I can't sing too. Hehehe.

Sakinah, I hope that someday you can go to a Muslim country to visit and hear it live from the mosque. I think that was my favorite memory from my time in the Middle East, hearing the Adhan at 2:30 am.

In June it was pretty early, but Jordan is further to the north. And that short period of early time was usually around the summer soltice.

as i mentioned in another post, i've set up a prayer program so that i have YI calling adhan at prayer time. its quite nice! i believe its on the 'prayers of the last prophet cd' sak. i can't pick a favourite on 'in praise of hte last prophet'. the entire cd makes me feel humble and warm.

Sigh. I need a trust fund devoted to CDs and books. If only some one would volunteer. I do have the YI Adhan and it sure is nice. Now I am a bit of a nit pick. Jordan is the same latitude as Georgia. That is considerably more south of me in Montana than UAE is of Jordan. The earliest sun rise (regular time, not day light savings) here is 4:52 am. Sunset is at 8:34. That data comes from the game regulations for Montana. I feel a craving for chocolate covered cashews. Turan

Cool, I didn't know that Georgia and Jordan were on the same latitude. Sunset may be around 4:42 am, but I do recall a couple of mornings praying Fajr at 3 am in the summertime. But Fajr can be prayed around an hour and a half before sunrise and the mosques in Jordan call the Adhan twice. Once about ten to 15 minutes before the prayer, and then again about five minutes before the prayer. The first one is to announce that prayer time is soon and that you should wash and get to the mosque, and the second one is for assuming the place to pray. Either that or my memory is way off or the clock was set incorrectly. We used to sleep on the rooftop in the summer because it was hot and we had three mosques near our home and we would get up and go downstairs at the first Adhan. I once asked Hamdi the time and he said, "2:30 am" and I remarked, "Isn't that very early for salat?"

Salaam alaykom and greetings,
You know, this is is 'Prayers of the Last Prophet', however it is still one of my favorites by Br Yusuf...
It is the 'Blessings on Muhammad' du'a'... the one that goes...
"O Protector of the Seeker of Protection; O Protection of the horror-stricken; O Pillar of the one who has no pillar; and O Supporter of the one who has no support;"...
Br Yusuf first recites this in Arabic... and he does it so well that my husband didn't know that it was Br Y reciting... he thought it was a native speaker!
This entire du'a is recited with so much emotion on Br Y's part that I get a lump in my throat every time.
Ramadhan kareem,
Ma'as-salaama, kareema

my favorite is the last song on the album. in particular Yusuf's solos. I couldn't get it out of my head and still it captivates me every time I listen to it. In my opinion it's possibly his best ever. mashallah.(it is as god wills)
thanks whomever it was that highly recommended this album on this site .. I probably would have delayed getting it otherwise.
wassalamu alaikum and peace 2u, -anwar

Ramadhan kareem, Ma'as-salaama, kareema I bought a copy of prayers of the last prophet just for my car. It is such a soothing tape at any time with so much reassurance, depth and power. And the payers come in *very* handy when driving...for instance once I got lost in the middle of a big city and the travel prayer came on. And usually when I'm driving I'm stressed out so it's very soothing to hear some of those most useful prayers. I keep this tape playing in my car's stereo almost permanently. Thank you yusuf (it is as god wills). peace 2 u, -anwar
