Hi JZ, thanks for info. Can you give any further details about the radio sessions?
Very best

Hi Daddy-o! Well worth asking the question. I downloaded this quite a while ago and have so many bits and pieces on Cat, that I forgot whether it had merit or not. I searched thru all my Cat folders and came up with nothing - which may mean it wasn't much chop or it's gone missing (although missing is unlikely). So, I felt I owed it you you to download it again and check it out - hmmm.... yep, I deleted this download before. Sadly, it's the Kcet bbc concert of June 8, 1971. Worse, it states that it's audio quality is rated 'A'. That's a very overly 'optimistic' rating by the uploader. I bought the official vhs video of this back in 1995. The ONLY good track here is the inclusion of Morning Has Broken from the Moon & Star Concert, but sadly it's off the Hoaxer LP - although, I might use that in an experiment as a parallel track of the FM simulcast one. It may lend a touch on that track because there are some slightly more prominent vocals along the way. Still, what sounds plausible in theory, doesn't always lend credence to it in practice. Oh and one last bad thing to report - they're a mix of mp3 files some being 320, the others 128 kbps, which is really sad. So, I'm very sorry. I wish I could scrap this particular link, as it really isn't worth the trouble! P.S. Whilst searching online for more info as I waited for the download to complete, I came across a 2nd link to the same download - if you take a look you'll see it's very misleading! live-bootleg.blogspot.com/search/label/Cat%20StevensPlease accept my apologies! Regards, Jonathan.

O.K. I imagine some of you are members of the Traders Den, but those who aren't - sign up and take a look at the quality there! www.thetradersden.org/index.php?There are 3 Cat torrents and 1 of Yusuf: Cat Stevens 1974-04-26 Boston Moon & Star 2.9 gigs worth (includes 24 bit original raw master files) KCET from June 8 1971 (for those who can't buy it commercially, this is a great alternative) Yusuf KCRW 21.12.06

Thank you so much for allowing me to put my Rapidshare account to good use! The sound quality of the Moon & Star concert is just stunning.

Hi polygor! I'm so glad these links have been a help. And WHAT a concert! Yep, the quality is certainly stunning!!! I'm just hoping that I'll soon find some reasonable quality video footage - the sound doesn't matter, because I'm joining the audio to the video footage I have and remixing it all to a Master DVD. I've succesfully removed the old audio from the Morning Has Broken video and replaced it with this high quality audio - it's amazing!!! Anyway, seeming you have a rapidshare account, maybe you'd also like to check out these links - if you don't know already: loadingvault.com/www.rsfind.com/I regularly search there for Cat Stevens links! Peace to you polygor and may your heart know long days of happiness

Hi j!
Thank you for the links - I haven't come across them. I do a lot of my searching at M*nin*va and D*mon*id.
Of course, what I'd really like is a decent live copy of Sweet Scarlet :-)
Looking forward to Yusuf's next release!
Cheers,
polygor

Yes - that'd be nice! Is there a concert you know of where he performed Sweet Scarlet live? I'd imagine he must have performed it somewhere... I have a feeling that a lot more unheard recordings and footage will come to light within the next year or two - as well as the upcoming rare footage CD mentioned at Cat Stevens MySpace page. I'm looking forward to that too!

I had a poor quality copy of SS from Dime but deleted it soon after. Something else that would be good to hear is the CS 1966 demos before Mike Hurst wreaked havoc on them (imho).

The only boot I found that has Sweet Scarlet on it is on the Toronto, Massey Hall, November 12, 1972. It is a poor quality audience recording. Actually it's about the same type of quality that goes for most audience recordings from those early years. If you want me to make a mp3 of S.S for you, to see if it is any better than the dime version, send me a PM.

Thanks for the offer but I found it a bit harsh on the ears!

Oh wow - so sad about the poor quality of these concerts And hey! - Polygor, I'm 100% with you about the 1966 demos! I've not even thought about the existence of them! Are you implying there are some of the Mike Hurst ones floating around? That's got me thinking about the master tapes of Matthew and Son/New Masters - I would LOVE to hear both of these WITHOUT the band. For me personally, I've not been able to enjoy these couple of albums - largely due to the band. It's only very rarely in some of the individual songs that the backing band is anywhere near complimentary to Cat. I sorely wish we could hear a thorough re-mix of these two albums! I think the closest to pure Cat would be Portabello Road. As for Sweet Scarlet, I wish I had the money to invest in a software program called iZotope RX! There's a cut down version available which may or may not help, I've got 10 days worth of a save disabled demo I'm hoping to run some of the Moon & Star audio through. I have the professional version of Samplitude for my own compositions. I've tried running the spectral cleaner through Moon & Star in it, but with no beneficial result. The thing about iZotope tho' is that it's a dedicated spectral cleaner. I love Samplitude - it makes for a near perfect recording studio in my opinion, but it's not cut out for as thorough a clean-up as these old Cat concerts need. Hopefully, someone with a bit of money and know-how can invest some of their time in these old concerts and make for some very happy, appreciative Cat fans!

Re- the Matthew and Son/New Masters albums, I only enjoy listening to Dog, Matthew, First Cut, Here Comes and Tramp. If you're reading Yusuf, perhaps you could give those albums the 'unplugged' treatment, although I guess you'd want to omit 'I'm gonna get me a gun!'
