Went on Saturday and it was bloody great !!
The band consisted of a piano player,drummer,bassist,2nd guitarist and backup singer- Plus the guy who played Cat. They did all the great songs and I sang along to all of them- as did everyone else in the audience.
I am gunna go again.
And I didn't cry when they did Father and Son but I came close. Oh and the version of Into White was MAGIC- the girl singer had the voice of an Angel.
The encore was Peace Train and it just about brought the house down.
Waterice.
p.s. The good thing too was at 51 -I was a sping chicken in the audience LOL .......lots of grey Cat shaped beards and grey pony tails

Obviously not as good as the real thing,(which I saw in 1974) but still pretty good. Magic in fact.

Sorry Waterice, I just noticed this thread. Where was the tribute concert? I'd love to see a tribute concert. I think it sounds like a great time. It also sounds like you had a really fun time. I once saw a band that use to sing Father and Son in ther act, but that was the only Cat song they sang. I'm glad you had a great time.

Thanks Christine- was in Melbourne,Oz.
If you closed your eyes a little bit,it was easy to imagine it was 1974 all over again.

Well I went again on Saturday for what was the final concert- the name of the band was Paul Dillon and the Tillermen. Because it was the last show they did an extra encore of a medley consisting of- Another Saturday Night,Tuesdays Dead,Bitterblue,a blistering First Cut is the Deepest and Wild World.
The singer insisted we all sing Morning has Broken together.
It was fantastic,(again) I dunno if they are now heading to another state or whatever but if they come back to Melbourne I will go again.
Magic stuff.
Interestingly he grew up in England with 4 older sisters who had all Cat's albums all over the house.

Waterice - sounds like a phenomenal concert. I will keep an eye out for them. I haven't found anything on the web about the band, although I only did a quick search. Glad you enjoyed it enough to go twice.
