Hi everyone, Although no one answered me on this thread..I am trying again, because there was a special show on Cat Stevens on the radio few days ago, the host of this special is a well known musician here and he really love Cat's music...anyway he told an unbelievable story that happened to him with Cat..He was walking on the street of a small town here named Rehovot, and suddenly he saw someone who looked like Cat Stevens sitting in one of the small coffe houses there, it seemed so far fetched that he thought it couldn't be true that it was really him...But then in the day after this incident he read in the news paper that Cat is in the country and that his brother lives here near this town and is married to an Israeli woman..I was so amazed that I didn't even hear what year it was...Please if anyone knows about this information please answer me...

Hi Shunra, All I can add is I believe you're right. I have a vague recolleciton that David married a Jewish woman ... but don't quote me -- I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone else can confirm. Also, I have the vague notion they're divorced. Again, not sure .. obviously. I recall the sense of irony I was struck with at the notion (if this is true) of each brother being affiliated with a spouse, respectively, whose religion is the epitome of the other spouse's rival religion. The epitome of sibling (and religious) rivalry! So close, so similar ... and yet so divergent and contentious... as sibllings can often be.

Hi Lucy13,
Thanks for your reply.. I am happy to get some confirmation on that issue...and you are right it's quite intriguing that each brother went on opposing path so to speak even though it seems(from all the interviews with Cat/Yusuf)that they have a very strong and good relationship...It was David who gave him The Qur'an as gift and that has changed his life... without it maybe it would never have happened...so I think that his bother has a very influential role on Cat/Yusuf life...

For whatever it's worth, there was an article on Yusuf a few years ago in GQ and David Gordon was interviewed. I seem to recall that the article said that David lived in New Jersey, which would be a long way from Israel! Of course, it's possible that he lived there at one time and moved to Israel. Yusuf does have half brothers, but I think they all live in Greece.

I saw that record for sale on ebay too and emailed the seller. Told him that Cat's brother is named David Gordon and could it possible be him? I never read anywhere that his bro could sing, so was very intrigued. He wrote back that he didn't think it was his brother at all. No indication anywhere on the cover or liner notes. I did a google 'david gordon singer' and 'david gordon integral' and got some opera singer in Carmel CA, ha ha. But his discography didn't include a Cat Stevens record. Was going to buy it just for the heck of it, but didn't. I found it on a couple other record sale sites. I think it's from France. Anybody have this record?

I may be a bit slow here but could anyone tell me why Cat's brother David has the surname Gordon. It's been puzzling me.
Peace margi

I think that maybe he changed it from georgiou to gordon that it will be more english but it's strange but Gordon is also a jewish name, even there is a famous David Gordon in jewish history, and a lot of streets in Israel are named after him... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A._D._Gordon

His ex-wife lives in Israel. He is the co-founder of the Israeli non-profit, Peace Child, though he now lives in Sweden.

I don't know whether that is true. What I do know is that David fathered two children with a high school friend of mine. They were living in Sweden for several years but now live in London.

Oh. Thank you so much for that info, jessiekitty . I guess it must be one of his sons... Daniel Gordon.
