Read all about it at Yusuf Islams website... The website has been updated with a few news items in the 'New in Brief' section of the website. Thanks for the update Christine...  April 8 is not so far away! And I'm looking forward to seeing him on 20/20 as well. By the way... when does 20/20 usually air? Gotta have my VCR all set to record!  Peace, Ayesha Ayesha, I am really excited to see Yusuf on 20/20 as well. 20/20 usually airs on Friday evenings at 10 PM EST. The details for the program is not completely worked out yet from my understanding. But as soon as they are, you will be the first to hear via Yusuf website. This is all very exciting. It'll be nice to be able to see the video of Yusuf performng Peace train as well as see Small Kindness given some recognition. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it goes through. |

LadyD, I was confused about the '20/20' thing because it wasn't there when I read the article. I hope Yusuf is still going to be interviewed. I want to record it.

I, too am excited about the interview. I ju st sincerely hope that Elizabeth Vargas won't be the one to interview him. I can'y say that I am extremely h appy with her last attempt. Much as I do not like Barbara Walters I think I would prefer her, or Charlie Gipson. I still think that an hour long interview with Larry King would do wonders simply because the show is presented l ive and at least then they could not do any "creative" editing to suit their own agenda. Then also we could call in an ask some questions. But isn't it fantastice t hat we have all of this "Yusuf Activity" to keep us all on our toes and guessing. I swear it feels like the 7o's again... well not really but y ou know what I mean.

Miss Kitty, what happened the last time Elizabeth Vargas interviewed him?
I can not wait to see him on 20/20 if it still happens. I was wondering how ya'll knew it was gonna be on that show, because by the time I saw it, the name wasn't on there. Wonder why they took it off?

They talked about 'the Rushdie thing' and showed Iran and stuff totally counterproductive to Yusuf's interview. I hope that this time he gets to convey the message he wants people to hear.

Unfortunately they do and Yusuf gets pretty tired of it always popping up too. You know, that man has so much more going than some past event that really was blown way out of preportion. I think people should focus on his charity work, maybe even more than his Cat Stevens' persona. But that music reaches so many people that I tend to remember that first when his name pops into my head.

I sure hope 20/20 doesn't let us down the last time they had Yusuf on-with all the cancelations and such, and then giving him a BAD RAP, with ANthony DeCurtis! I won't say how I feel about him! I am sure all who know me knows! I hope that this time Yusuf will be treated with the LOVE AND RESPECT he deserves!

Ayesha, I'm sorry to hear the download didn't work for you.
But, they are aware of the download problems that liquid audio is having. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. They are checking into it now.

Vivian, I am not going to risk it until they get that liquid.com site running smoothly because if I am going to have an argument with the hubby I want it to only be once..LOLOLOL And it will buy me time until we get the restaurant open and a cashflow started. Hamdi is counting the pennies right now because we have no income right now.... All the money we have is for living or for opening the restaurant.
I hope it happens soon because I want to hear the song......I will probably chance it soon and nab the credit card statement before Hamdi does...LOLOLOLOLOL

Love, A'isha not only did they bring it up, but when they asked him, 'so you never endorsed the fatwa' and he began to answer, they did a VOICEOVER of vargas with her own take on the situation! he's sitting there, lips are moving, giving his side, and its blah blah blah from her. the question meant to entice and bait the audience, and leave them dangling, even though he DID answer the question. it was a horrible interview (was she ga ga enough or WOT!) when i spent time with him i told him i HATED that interview. he didn't seem too pleased with it either, but as i can't remember his words exactly, i won't put any in his mouth. the thing that struck me the most about him was when he talked of things like that, media, being misunderstood, he seemed genuinely HURT by it, not angry (well a little angry). i'm surprised he's giving them another go, but then again, thats where he excels me by miles; forgiveness, hope, belief in the inherant goodness of man (or woman reporter, haha). pray for charles gibson. hehe |

We can expect that Yusuf would be hurt by such actions by the media. His forgiving nature is part of why we care about him so much. I doubt I would be so forgiving if I had been in Yusuf's shoes. Knowing me, I would have wrought some form of revenge....LOL I think, though, that Yusuf is very aware of the wide amount of people who view "20/20" and still has hope that he can convey his message. I hope that this time he gets to finish his sentences. What he is doing for those Iraqi children is wonderful Thank you, Colleen, for your office.
