The new Peace Train was mentioned in the Rolling Stone magazine (the May 1st issue)! I've been wondering if they would ever say anything about Yusuf re-recording his two songs and I've been watching for it ever since he released Peace Train. It's just a little blurb, but still exciting.
They did a small article called "New Songs Against War". They didn't say it was by Yusuf Islam, they called him Cat Stevens, which I thought was kinda odd. They rated all the songs with stars, I guess four was the highest. They only gave Peace Train two stars. I don't think they were real impressed, but whatever. Here's what it said: Cat Stevens "Peace Train" The seventies pop star converted to Islam years ago-this rare new recording sounds much like his original version, from 1971.
I don't think it sounds all that much like the original one. I wish that they would have written more, but it was still cool seeing it in there. love, Alicia

Thanks Andrea, considering the history of "Rollingstone" and Cat/Yusuf it is pleasing to see them mention him at all. But IMHO they should have done a layout. "System Of A Down" has a anti-war song out and it is getting much attention. They should give the new releases of Yusuf's the same attention, especially since they are milestones.

But that's typical of 'Rolling Stone' and many people who are prejudiced against Yusuf. They don't even bother to give him a chance, and they neither read about him nor listen to him. Love, Sanna

Sanna, you would think that the fact that Yusuf has released his first Cat Stevens songs in 25 years would be more newsworthy, especially since the reason he released them was in protest of the war and to help the Iraq kids.

Yes, A'isha, that's true! But even that fact, and also his charities and donations seem to be deliberately and constantly ignored!

Love, A'isha That's why I kept looking for it in the one or two issues that have come out since he released Peace Train. They kept having little articles about artists doing anti-war songs and I thought for sure that they would have done a bigger piece on Yusuf. But I guess I should just be glad it got mentioned at all. I think it's pretty darn article-worthy, that he released a Cat Stevens song after all these years, but then again, I don't write for Rolling Stone. I wish that they would have mentioned Angel of War also. Oh well, can't have everything love, Alicia

Weird, weird, weird that they called him Cat Stevens! You'd think that someone would have caught that and cared before printng. Argh. Anyway, it's nice that they noticed at all. Rolling Stone doesn't like any of my favorite artists. Love, Andrea PS - Hey, thanks for posting that!
