I really can't make out what this is all about and if it's genuine.
Maybe it's one of those photoshop jobs.The birth date is correct and his height correct, but the rest is very unclear. Some of the typing looks a bit foreign. It can't be that American incident, he looks too young in the photo. The report date looks like '81.
Casiopiano can you tell us on which website you found this. Wasn't there any information about this mugshot on the website?Did you just stumble upon this accidently, or did you go digging for something against YI to cause a bit of a stir? Anyway for whatever reason, and if it's true, it happened many moons ago.
Does anyone know if this has appeared on the board in the past?

It was nothing really.... You know those paparazzi, they were hounding musicians years before their renowned way of hounding the Brad Pitts and Angelina's of today.
The story I have heard was that Yusuf and Fawzia were in Heathrow airport in the early 80's when one of them kept snapping photographs. Yusuf became upset and punched the guy. He was arrested, but I don't think much came of it.

I found an article from CNN.com were it says the mug shot was auctioned off between $800-$1,200. CS was arrested at New York's La Guardia Airport in 1981, June 27th, for assault.
He must have been badly provoked.
Now that was not so hard to find casiopiano if you really wanted info on this. Just like you found the mugshot, you could have found the info. I don't think this will shock as much as you hoped it would.

Hmm, interesting I had never heard that Cat/Yusuf story. Paparazzi definitely have that effect on everyone, that's for sure.

i feel quite offended that that downunder72 thinks im trying to cause a stir! I respect Yusuf Islam very very much and have been fortunate enough to have met him on several occasions. /i just came on here to get some information on him. I dont mean to sound rude but I think im the biggest fan of Cat Stevens/Yusuf out of everyone!!!! lol
im only 19 aswell. Not many 19 year old out there that listen to good music as Yusufs.

Welcome, casiopiano! I believe you will like it here. I found Majicat only a few months ago but feel as though it has always been a part of my life. I believe some of the best people in the world can be found here, even if the protective antennas go up quickly sometimes!

Wow it seems that Cat could throw a mean punch back in the day lol. My friends are always teasing me for liking Cat- they always say that Cat was a woose and not a real rock star lol this blows that out of the water . Wow the paparazzi must have really been asking for it for Cat to react like that, serves them right for harrassing people. |
